VIDEO: GSP on CNN’s Starting Point with Soledad O’Brien

UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre appeared on CNN’s Starting Point with Soledad O’Brien yesterday morning.

GSP shared the views of fellow well respected MMA personality, Bas Rutten when it comes to the bullying problem that faces so many kids today. “Rush” told Soledad O’Brien that the reason he got into martial arts was due to being bullied, and that MMA was his solution to this problem.

This was one of many media stops St. Pierre has been making in an attempt to help sponsor the New York MMA legislation. GSP transitions from the topic of bullying to fighting with the O’Brien and guests, and it seems that they are stuck in the in 1990’s concerning MMA. They asked if UFC was staged, and how violent the sport really is. GSP handled the questions very well as a great ambassador for the sport would, and does MMA justice on a national broadcast.

    GSP is a good ambassador

  2. GET RID OF FITCH (forever) says:

GSP we are not impressed by any of you performances in and out of the cage.

Keep milking that injury. what the hell only fights once a year anyway. NFL football players are back in 3-5 months after ACL surguries. I was back running at full speed in 8 weeks after ACL, MCL, 8 hours on table, of course I was only 34 at the time.

someone who is in perfect condition should be able to come back 5 times faster than anyone else. barring no infections of course

My guess is GSP already had that injury and just used it to get out of fighting Condit and Diaz to give himself another year to find a full proof way to win

    • Rick says:

      Your a fuckin idiot

      • GET RID OF FITCH (forever) says:

Rick you are so intellegent. just cause you are too stupid to add anything yourself. You are real tough guy calling me an idiot hiding behind your mommas computer. anytime punk you want to crawl out of your mommas basement

    • Tom says:

      Google is a marvelous thing.
Try fact-checking some of those recovery times you threw out there and maybe consider not posting anymore. Or consider what the risk of coming back early would mean for the financial career of someone in such a position.
Or is it all about entertaining YOU as fast as possible and at the potential expense of others’ careers?

    • Fitch For Life says:

Sir, I am not impressed with your ridiculous theories. According to you, if I am in fantastic shape and cut myself, my cut would heal 5 times faster than someone who is obese? As long as it is not infected? Georges is going to win against Nick and Carlos in all likeliness you god damn moron. I’m positive that you weren’t fully healed in 8 weeks from an ACL. Maybe your vagina just cramped up you fucking hater.

      • GET RID OF FITCH (forever) says:

GSP is retiring next year anyway he doesn’t need to milk this injury for a year. Now that there is real competition with Ellenberger, Condit, Rory and teh fact GSP is scared to death of A Silva he already told his boy Rory he’s retiring next year

        • Fitch For Life says:

Retire next year? He’s only 30 and hasn’t lost since 2007. Condit, Ellenberger and your boy Rory would all get worked by GSP. The only person at welterweight that has a worthy chance is Nick Diaz because of his aggressive style and world class Jiu Jitsu. He is a bad match for Georges, the 3 you mentioned aren’t because neither of them will stop the take down or even have decent success standing. Silva is a scary motherfucker and larger than GSP, so I guess he might be just a little unwilling to fight, who wouldn’t be? Georges has said many times that he can’t wait to fight again. He’s not milking anything.

  3. Monkey juice says:

Speak for yourself Fitch…I like watching GSP bust eye sockets, bend arms, annihilate BJ whiny Penn, crush Matt Hughes and generally give out free humility lessons to egomaniac American fighters. Fuck yeah.

    • GET RID OF FITCH (forever) says:

GSP is boring plain and simple only fights not to lose ie: point fighting, very boring champion

      • Tom says:

GSP has landed more significant strikes and more total strikes than any fighter in the history of the UFC. He’s also landed more takedowns than any fighter in UFC history and has the best takedown accuracy of any UFC fighter, AND has landed more knock-downs than almost any fighter in the UFC.
        (Source: )
A fighter having one or two, (I can’t remember more than two, can you?,) slow fights doesn’t make them a boring fighter when the rest of their fights are so ridiculous. Now stop repeating the words of all the keyboard warriors you see and try actually watching more than GSP’s last two fights.
And I’m not even a fan of the frenchie.

        • GET RID OF FITCH (forever) says:

GSP has lost half his fanbase in last few years and its EVERYONE that thinks he’s boring. Lets see his last 6 fighst have been boring and since he only fights once a year he bored us to death for 4-6 years.

        • GET RID OF FITCH (forever) says:

All gsp good stats were PRE-MATT SERRA, now he is afraid to engage and only uses his boring ass jaberrrfest going backwards the entire fight. GSP is hands down the most boring champion and most 90% fans are so ready for a NEW champ that actually wants to fight. GSP took a year off for ACL is a friggen MILK job all the way. look it up football players are back in 5 months max. GSP just wants to watch all the other WW fight and beat each other up so he can have his million dollar team come up with 100% full proof way of eeeeeeeeking out one of his usual 5 round boring ass decsions he is so famous for. If GSP was as great as you exaggerate he wouldn’t be afraid to fight A. Silva. you guys are typical nuthuggers

        • Michael says:

You are such an idiot 5 months max? You have never competed in any sport in your life have you? Heres some links to help prove how big of a dumbass you.

Its hard to argue with the facts dumbass!

  4. San Da FC says:

Clearly none of the panel members did any research before having GSP on the show. Some of them kept calling the sport, “ultimate fighting” very frustrating for me to hear that. I also wish GSP would have corrected them. And what people actually think MMA is staged??? Why was that even brought up?

  5. John m says:

I had my femoral condyle broken last April by a patient in our emergency room. Had to have a oats procedure. Been a year now. I still cant even try to squat no weights.
I am very fit and used to teach kenpo and boxed in the army Couldn’t imagine if I tried to kick or got kicked right now.

    • GET RID OF FITCH (forever) says:

ACL takes less than 3-5 months to recover ask any orthopedic. its all done with a scope and very un-instrusive. back in old days pre-1980’s it was nasty use to open up the entire side of the knee and left huge scarring. now itst a simple outpatient procedure. GSP would take 6 months to get over a hang nail. the man has lost his desire to fight. Any bets he finds a way out of fighting Condit? you heard it here first he will give up his title so he can lay n pray Diaz

  6. Flex juice monkey says:

Guys like you Bitch and whine but I’ll bet you won’t miss his return ppv. He’s a safe fighter because he’s the champion. His challengers need to take the risks to take his belt. His challengers need to initiate, take the risks. They are more to blame than Frenchie for boring fights. All these challengers need to try shit against him. Why should he? They want the belt, bring the fight to GSP. They don’t bring shit! He could stand still in the cage and they’d probably just poke jabs at him for 25 minutes. Fuckin attack him!! No one does!! Yet…

  7. jbeamazing says:

Mma need a good guy like gsp but to have a good guy like that we also need bad guys not bad guys that fail piss test but shit talking shit starting bad guys ya know a little yin and yang for that ass lol

  8. My thoughts... says:

GSP is an ambassador for the sport and a great one at that. Guys that hate on him do it out of a jealousy which is a desire to be like him. Get over your jealousy and spend some time appreciating his humility and style. And, oh yeah, he can bring the punishment as well!

    • GET RID OF FITCH (forever) says:

UFC needs a champion that wants to fight more than once a year and one that isn’t so damn boring. Ellenberger will fix that real soon

  9. Flex juice monkey says:

You’re talking out your ass…if you had a $100, you’d bet it on Frenchie over Ellenberger budd.

  10. I love GSP haters. They love to hate on fighters who fight ‘smart’ but win.
it’s a career guys. The fighters who fight recklessly don’t have long ones.
