GSP Not Sold On Superfight With Anderson Silva | UFC NEWS

“I hate that. They talk to me about the next fight and I’m not there. Like I’m supposed to win easy, like it’s a joke. Carlos Condit is a dangerous guy. I always respect my opponent. My life is on the line. Name the top guy and they’ve said they want to fight me. They want to make the money. It’s normal. I understand why they want to fight me. I don’t know. I haven’t thought about it. I know he’s a big guy. I have to sit down and analyze it.”

In an interview with the NY Post, UFC welterweight champion, GSP says he may not be interested in a superfight with middleweight champion Anderson Silva.

  1. Big Show says:

Condit is going to win this supersafe fight!

  2. Dan says:

I respect the fact that GSP isn’t looking past Condit, because Condit will be giving him a run for his money. With that being said I don’t believe taking a super-fight with Anderson Silva is in his best interests. On paper Silva is the worst possible match up for GSP. I like GSP, respect the hell out of his abilities; Anderson would win in convincing fashion.

  3. Hell No says:

That would be the most boring fight ever!

  4. TheTude says:

I understand the appeal of superfights but i dont like the idea of undoubtedly bringing down one of your best. If i were Dana White and Joe Silva i would steer clear. GSP, Silva, Bones, possibly JDS and Bendo need to stay in their own weight classes and just reign supreme.

    • TheTude says:

oh yea, Frankie Edgar is going to wail on Jose Aldo

      • Tyas187 says:

Aldo is going to win with ease frankie edgar is good but slightly over rated Aldo is supreme at his weight class give it a rest.

        • TheTude says:

Edgar has beat huge names at lightweight including BJ Penn 2x, not to mention the wars with gray maynard, now he is going lighter and you think Aldo can hang, you give it a rest, Frankie is top 6 P4p no doubt

        • TheTude says:

Edgar has beaten huge names at lightweight including BJ Penn 2x, not to mention the war with Maynard, Now he is going to a smaller weaker weight class, Aldo will be owned, so you give it a rest, Edgar is at least top 10 P4P

    • Null says:

So no interesting fights ever? Turn UFC into more of a WWE model than model it as a sport? I want to see the tough fights and I don’t care if one guys stock goes down. The whole point is to have the best fight the best, thats why I watch the UFC.

I have no desire to see the UFC turn into a protection-ist org that just ‘builds’ fighters and protects them. The best should always fight the best, period. Dana and Joe make the fights and sign the contracts.

      • Mars Ultor says:

You might not care if stock goes down but a lot of other people do. You lose to a smaller guy, well maybe you aren’t as good as people thought. Anderson Silva loses to anyone, well maybe he’s not the P4P king. Either way you’re knocking off one of your champs against someone who isn’t even in the same division. Any superfight is a terrible idea and if it weren’t it would of already happened.

  5. Dick Diaz says:

this is a fight that doesn’t need to be taken on GSP’s part. Superfights happen because a fighter who wants to do the fight has fought in two weight classes i.e. BJ and his lightweight and welterweight experience. GSP has only fought in welterweight. the real super fight is Silva and Jones and should’ve been Aldo – Edgar (this fight is still a super fight but nowhere near the luster if Edgar still had his belt).

    • Null says:

I love how GSP fans dont see how retarded they are. You just stated that GSP doesn’t need to take this fight (because he will lose, we all know that) yet you tout all these other superfights, why? because you want to protect GSP from getting knocked out, considering if Matt Serra STOPPED him, most any 185er could probably do the same.

Please stop talking out of both sides of your mouth.

  6. Levi says:

GSP don’t have a chance against AS. Sorry.

  7. santos says:

this guy is a coward. he has no problem fighting guys smaller then him but,,,,, silva is a big guy. what a farce. i will never root for this nutstain.

    • Advent says:

You’re a fucking idiot. I don’t see your punk ass in the cage, yet you’re gonna call the most dominant champ a coward? Color me not impressed. So its ok for Silva to fight the smaller guy, but GSP is a coward if he does? What smaller guys is he fighting? He’s not requesting fights with lightweights, you douche canoe.

      • 305brett says:

GSP is not the most dominate champ! He has been beat 2x in the UFC. Anderson is the most dominate champ. It is ok for Anderson to call out GSP becasue GSP deceided to use “unimpressed” to describe some of the “most dominate champs” fights. If he was scared he shouldnt have been disrespectful while within earshot of the best p4p fighter in the world! Besides GSP has Condit and then a ass whoppin waitn for him from Nick Diaz.

  8. Dee says:

What people don’t understand is that there was a time a when both guys walked around at the same weight. Silva was a small middleweight who moved up from 175, and GSP didn’t want the fight then either.

    • Sam says:

What are you talking about? That was quite a long time ago now. No one was talking about GSP vs Anderson Silva back then. No one.

      • Dee says:

You are absolutely wrong. They were proposing the idea back when he when he was fighting Leites and Maia. At the time according to Joe Rogan he was walking around at 194. Go back and watch the fights you’ll hear Joe mentioning it. You will also see that Silva was a lot leaner than he is today.

  9. GSP says:

The same reason Gsp doesn’t wanna fight AS is the same reason JBJ and AS don’t wanna fight …. They all have too much too lose and nothing to win . Anderson has a huge advantage over Gsp i think that’s the only reason he wants this fight soo bad .

  10. Ryan says:

The words “I won’t fight Anderson Silva” never came out of GSP’s mouth. Get past this fight and put money on the table. We still have a while. Chill people.

  11. 123 says:

George St Pierre is right people need to calm down & stop overlooking Carlos Condit.. its going to be one of George St Pierres toughest fights.

  12. Ryan says:

Yea i wouldnt be sold on getting smashed in front of millions either. Same story every time talks of gsp/silva fight come up. Obviously ducking silva. If he does beat condit they will find him another opponent and the talks of the superfight will fade.

  13. DaPinkBat says:

The key word that I recall is “catch weight.” 180 lbs to be exact. Georges walks around naturally at 200 before a fight. How long has this potential fight been mentioned for? Years! …and he claims that he is not thinking or thought about it?

  14. Rough translation:Please stop asking me about Silva.I’ve already used every possible excuse in the book not to fight him. Can’t you guys see that i’m scared of Anderson.Silva would retire me so i’m not going to fight him.I have nightmares just thinking about Anderson.Stop asking me questions please leave me alone.

  15. KIDD433 says:

@ techno striker.Lol well said homie.

  16. 305Brett says:

Techno said it very well buttt for all you GSP fans… Anderson is calling out GSP because GSP has talked trash about Andersons fights on more than one occasion. When you talk trash about another fighter you need to be prepared to back up your thoughts. Now if he didnt want to fight Anderson he shouldnt have used the word “unimpressed” while describing Anderson’s performance in the octagon. Quit ducking him GSP and take the fight you picked otherwise you get put under Chael cause at least he tried!

  17. Josiah says:

Techno Striker…you’re f*ckn retarded. if your anderson silva is really that good why is he calling out a smaller fighter? what is he trying to prove? have seen silva fight as WW in UFC?no..have you seen GSP fight in MW?hell no..that idea is just dumb..
-now here’s something that make more sense…have you seen silva in LHW?yes..have seen him win all fights in a convincing fashion? what do you think silvas next move should be?
-do i really have to spoon feed everyone about this?????
