Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre has his sights set on becoming the David Beckham of Mixed Martial Arts. The 36 year old Los Angeles Galaxy star player has a whopping salary of £160million, and earns around £26million from sponsorships. (The Sun) St. Pierre only earns £5million for headlining a PPV fight. St. Pierre said “My goal one day is to be the David Beckham of MMA but I still have a lot to do to reach that point. Mr Beckham is a great role model and I aspire to do the same.”

Exactly, he said “My goal is to be…” and “I aspire to be…” He never said “I’ll be the David Beckham of MMA.” There is a big grammatical difference, which a reporter/journalist should know the difference between the two. GSP is too humble to actually claim he will be, which is why he said that his aspirations are to become what he said. Will is right, there is a difference.
Of course he will be, hes already the Wayne Gretzky,Derek Jeter,Micheal Jordon and Payton Manning of MMA Why not David Beckham….lol

So he wants to be the guy that is over hyped over paid and pretty much makes a goal once in a blue moon. It fits gsp well. Their both very alike. Gsp only cares about money just like becham hes overhyped and puts on a boring fight. Just like becham he barely fights once a year and top of that he never finishes a fight or follow through. Problem is GSP you only compete once maybe every 2 -3 years and are scared to fight anyone your own size or even 5 -10lbs bigger. GSP will never be considered best ever because he has been scared to fight ever since he was KO’d by a lightweight in Serra
GSP fights on average as much as any other fighter, twice a year. He’s also one of the most dedicated fighters in the sport and is a great ambassador for MMA. You can’t act like a child just because someone dominates their division and injures their ACL. Cruz has the same injury and will be out for just as long, this stuff happens.
You also seem discontent on some kind of catch-weight fight that many would like to see, but seem to only be hampering one of the contestants. Both are unwilling to have a catch-weight fight it is their right as top pound-for-pounds to do so. You are not in a position to scream, shout and stomp your feet because you’re not getting it when you want it.

No GSP doesn’t fight 2x times ayear and hasn’t for at least 4 years. Typical GSP nuthugger who adds up all his fights and divides by years he’s been fighting. GSP fights less than ALL otehr champs because he knows he can’t beat the new breed of UFC WW and he even has a pass against Rory which is total B.S. Sucks GSP went from hungry exciting fighter to content boring fighter. After Serra got that lucky punch he’s changed. He never recovered and has been a point boring fighter. And I like GSP
