Greg Jackson on GSP: “He Probably Will Come Back”

While many, including UFC President Dana White, seem unsure of a Georges St-Pierre return to the Octagon, GSP’s former coach Greg Jackson actually believes that there is a fairly strong likelihood of GSP fighting again. In a recent interview with Sportsnet Canada, Jackson discussed the possibility of a GSP comeback, saying:

“I think with Georges he doesn’t mind a challenge. It’s never really bothered him. It gives him something to focus on. I don’t think it’s going to be the end of his career at all. He’s already retired, anyway, so he’s got time to rehab. He probably will come back. It would be my guess, an educated guess. I’m not saying at 100%, but if I know Georges he might do another fight or two just to do it. He’s a warrior all the way. He’s a guy that likes challenges. If he’s got to rehab the knee, that’s what he’s got to do. If he’s got to keep the belt, that’s what he’s got to do. If he’s got to earn it back, that’s what he’s got to do.”

While the likelihood of a quick St. Pierre return is low thanks to another ACL surgery, a retirement, and an increasingly successful movie career, the UFC would likely love to have the French-Canadian back, since he has historically been one of the biggest draws in the promotion. GSP last fought  at UFC 167, where he won a highly controversial split-decision over current Welterweight champion Johny Hendricks.
