Gilbert Melendez On TUF 20 Coaches – “You Better Believe I Called Nick And Nate Diaz”
Gilbert Melendez, who has signed on to coach The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) opposite UFC lightweight champion Anthony “Showtime” Pettis, has announced his plans to bring the Diaz brothers to the show.
Now, nothing has been set in stone as of yet, when it comes to the Diaz brothers’ involvement with the show. But even if they simply come in to give a few random, disjointed, non-sequitorial words of encouragement, when the “Skrap Pack” is together, you can be sure that there will more than likely be some drama unfolding. (Even if you didn’t know what kind of scene the “Skrap Pack” can cause, all you have to do is see that “k” being used in the word “scrap”, to know that these guys mean business; that’s supposed to be a “c”, guys. But they don’t care… they just don’t care. )
Melendez spoke to Shoot Media, where he announced his plans of bringing in the Diaz brothers, as well as another stablemate of his – Jake Shields. A man known for putting people to sleep. (I’ll just leave it at that.)
“As for my staff, for sure I’ve got to go with my big brother Jake Shields who just brings so much experience to the table. He’s been here for so long, and no one outworks that guy. As well as my standup coach Jongsanan Woodenman, he’s my partner at the gym, El Nino Training Center. He’s been my standup coach from the beginning. He has more experience than most standup coaches out there. You better believe I called Nick and Nate Diaz already and asked them to make some time to come out and make an appearance and spend some time out there in Vegas.”
Considering both camps’ flare for entertaining an audience, as well as the history between “Anthony “Showtime” Pettis and Nate Diaz, and it looks like TUF20 will be something to see.
