Fuel TV debuts “Benson Henderson: Rising Up” Wednesday night at 11 p.m.
Fuel TV is airing a one-hour special on lightweight champion Ben Henderson’s “struggles and motivations that helped him become one of the best in the UFC.” Wednesday night at 11 p.m. ET.
Henderson’s trainer, mother, brother, and girlfriend discuss what Henderson considers to be his defining moment in Mixed Martial Arts: Losing to Anthony Pettis in the final round of a fight that cost Henderson his WEC title.
“For me, it was a milestone, a catapult to get better. A lot of times some people face adversity and they have a tough loss, a close loss, and then they kind of go down. I think of some of the best champs: Georges St-Pierre, Anderson Silva, a lot of NFL guys and NBA guys. They hit that and they get better from there. I want to be that guy. I used the Pettis fight [to become] a better fighter.”
Henderson defends his title Saturday at UFC on Fox 5 against Nate Diaz. The fight will serve as Henderson’s second title defense, giving him the potential to extend his win streak to 6.
“The best ever. Period. No ifs, ands or buts about it. I want to be the best fighter ever.”

I really like Benson, but I think there is only one guy in the division who can actually beat him and that guy is Nate… se we are going to have a new Champion.
Anything is possible but Nate has to get lucky. A close fight always goes to the champ and benson is almost impossible to submit. Nate won’t knock him out and benson has some mean leg kicks that will slow Nate down for sure. Both great fighters for sure though.
