Freddie Roach | BJ Penn, Anderson Silva & GSP Top 3 Boxers In MMA

Legendary boxing coach Freddie Roach has a long history of working with the best talents in the world of boxing, which is precisely why top MMA stars have called upon him to help them sharpen their skills.
Having worked with the best athletes in Mixed Martial Arts, Roach tells Inside MMA who his top 5 are… Check it out!
1: Anderson Silva — “I had the honor of working with Anderson Silva, when he was in our gym for about five or six days in a row. He told me, ‘I’m pretty good at MMA, but I’m not too good at boxing.’ He’s just a real humble guy and very talented. He is one of the best guys that really understands distance and timing. He fights off the ropes a little bit. I told him that can be a little bit dangerous sometimes and to be careful, but he’ll suck you in, he’ll set you up, he’s one of the most intelligent fighters I’ve ever seen and have ever worked with.”
2: Georges St. Pierre — “‘GSP’s’ one of the greatest guys in the world. He’s a real gentleman and one of the best students I’ve ever had. I asked him, ‘How long did you go home and practice in front of the mirror last night?’ Because if I show him a move, he comes back with it the next day, and you know he practiced all night in front of the mirror. So, I love the guy. He’s a good guy and a hard worker, and that’s what it’s all about it hard work.”
3: B.J. Penn — “You know, B.J., he’s one of the best strikers I’ve ever faced, and that I’ve ever been in the ring with. It’s been quite a few years ago, and I think he’s close to retiring right now, but I’d call him the “James Toney of MMA,” because his weight would fluctuate quite a bit. He’ll fight from low weights to heavyweights. He’ll fight anyone in the world. He’s a good guy to be around, and he’s just a hard, hard worker and a great striker.”
4: Nick Diaz — “Nick Diaz is one of the most exciting fighters in the world, today. He’s great with his hands. He gets sidetracked a little bit, like in his last fight, but I think he’ll a great comeback. I’m looking forward to facing him with “GSP” someday, ’cause there’s a lot of talk about that.”
5: K.J. Noons — “K.J. is always in my gym and he’s very dedicated with his work ethic. I just love his tenacity in the ring. He comes to fight and he’s all about action.”

Diaz should place higher, can’t understand why he places GSP above him. Diaz would box the shit out of him.
u dumb
Yeah real intelligent come back douche bag. Diaz would light GSP up in a boxing match, and would probably admit it himself. I rate BJ as having some of the best boxing in MMA and did you see him after the fight??? Battered, exactly.
He didnt get Battered because Diaz Boxing was that good. He got battered because he had no cardio, Get off Diaz’s nuts. If GSP would stand with Diaz ..MARK MY WORD…Diaz would be Finished… will be eating Jabs and backing up. GSP wins in any area peroid…
gsp had trouble standing with Jake Shields your opinion officially doesn’t matter bud
I’m not on his nuts just pointing out the obvious advantage he has over GSP in boxing. I’m not even saying Diaz would win, but to claim GSP has better boxing is ludicrous, maybe Freddie should caveat it with the best MMA boxers HE has worked with.
Whoa – huge BJ fan but Diaz lit him up in that fight, it wasn’t just cardio it was the volume, speed and range of shots which overwhelmed BJ. Even BJ himself has stated Diaz had the best boxing in MMA, FACT.
Are you kidding?
Look at round 1 from Penn – Diaz before Nick strayed from what he said he was gonna do and started cage-clinching. For every lazy jab Nick threw, BJ had a counter combo coming. When both fighters were fresh, we all know who clearly had the better boxing. Just look at their faces after round 1 and tell me who looks “battered”.
thats y u fight a full fight ya i could be better than anyone for one round but if im a bitch and dont train for a full fight i deserve to get killed by the OVERALL BETTER FIGHTER in Nick Diaz
I agree with hostile hunter gsp is way to quick and strong for Diaz. And of you watch thr bj penn vs Diaz fight again bj out boxed him the first round very clearly then gassed out but toughed it out and didnt give up.
i cant believe he named kj noons…he must have named the only people he had ever worked with or something cuz kj really is not that great…and your all idiot diaz would use his hooking shots get get around gsp jab and smash him all night
I disagree, Noons has very crisp technical boxing and really slick, sneaky footwork. His head movement and counters are also very good. One of the more underrated fighters out there imo.
the last guy gsp finished was in 08 fredy doesn’t know shit about mma but can’t knock his boxing coaching but ever mma fighter he meets he says is the best
and if you didn’t know kj has done pro boxing he is 11-2
how is bj a better boxer than nick diaz, nick runs a train on bj but bj is still the better boxer it makes no sense. Roach needs to shut up and stick to Pacman
Bjp. Before nick? Diaz put a boxing clinic on Penn, hello?
Frankies boxing was better the Bjs thats why Bj could hardly hit Frankie.
Diaz should be number 1…
Gsp has no power in his punch… He only looks good hitting mitts he ain’t shit
Say that to KOS and his broken orbital bone.
Bjs boxing is on another planet compaired to Diaz. I’m a big fan of Bj and Nick but bj was def getting the better of nick in the boxing until he got tired.
Frankie and jds should be in that list no question..
