FOX Bumps UFC Card to Sunday Due to Saturday Motocross Event

The UFC hosting a live card of fights on a Sunday is something to scratch your head at… The card getting bumped from a Saturday night spot for a motocross event is something else entirely.

By Christopher Murphy @MurphMMA

The Ultimate Fighting Championship will be hosting UFC Fight Night 38 on Sunday, March 23 at the Nelio Dias Gymnasium in Natal, Brazil.

For those who are wondering about the choice of Sunday to air a live event, instead of the typical Saturday time slot, Mike Chiappetta posted to Twitter that FOX Sports 1 will air a motocross event on Saturday, March 22.

Aside from the schedule conflict at FOX Sports 1, the UFC may avoid competing with March Madness, which can be expected to have an important day of games on the 22nd.

So far, the UFC Fight Night 28 card has not been confirmed, though several bouts are rumored to be in place including a rematch between Dan Henderson and Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua, a flyweight bout between Scott Jorgensen and Jussier Formiga and a middleweight bout between CB Dollaway and Cezar Ferreira.

Honestly, what a dump premise. They may not want to say it, but the March Madness conflict makes a whole heck of a lot more sense. It’s right there in the article, you know.

    Bullshit what’s up with that

  4. seminalcacti says:

Since when is motocross higher priority than the UFC? does motocross really have a bigger following then the UFC? WTF>?

  5. Ryan S Bettencourt says:

For fucks sake!…They can’t just put one on FS2 pr FS3? A better idea would be to scrap these forced cards, quit oversaturating, and stack some fucking cards properly like the old days.

  6. BrainSmasher says:

Motorcross’s last event on FS1 did 400K viewers. Which is well below any live event the UFC has shown on the network.

Where did you get that stat??? In the last Nielsen ratings, SX has had the highest Nielsen ratings behind only the AFC/NFC Championships and almost a full point more than ANY UFC event they have had.

  7. Dan says:

Last time I checked FS1 was the “SPEED” channel not the UFC channel

  8. Chris says:

YES!!! Bout time MX got some respect! Thank you FOX Sports

  9. Ron Connors says:

I watch and love both. I was a motocross/supercross fan before the UFC existed. A great UFC card would trump a live supercross for me because I get the pay per view free here on Fox. We don’t get much supercross here. This year the supercross races have been awesome. Check them out.

Motocross … when Nascar isn’t enough white trash for you.
