I just saw the weigh-ins for Strikeforce: Fedor vs Rogers, and WOW what a difference. It wasn't much to see because i only saw the Mayhem vs Shields and Fedor vs Rogers weigh ins but just off that you felt the vibe was totally different. It felt much more professional. They kinda felt like boxing weigh-ins because of the announcer they used. The same one that announces the fights. It's much better hearing him announce then having to hear Joe Rogan scream out at the top of his lungs each and every time a fighter is brought out...lmaooo. I love Rogan don't get me wrong, he has a lot of knowledge of the sport, but i think he takes away the professionalism that the sport needs to be able to contend with the NFL, NBA, or MLB.
Strikeforce overall has taken a much more executive outlook to their promotion of MMA. I love what they've done so far with the marketing of these fights. Now with the weigh-ins looking like boxing weigh-ins, this sport will be taken much more seriously. I don't think a sport will have much success if it's promoted like a dorm party at some college campus. Strikeforce has a bright future if and when Fedor wins. If they could get their hands on fighters like Hendo, Rampage, and even Josh Neer who gives exciting fights, the sky's the limit for them.
Thoughts?
