exactly how the title states it, i am a bigger guy (6'3" 245lbs) and i just cant seem to burn my midsection fat away (i.e. love handles, back fat, and my beer belly) i stopped drinking as much beer, i work out 5-7 times a week intensely for about 1-2 hours and i have a pretty decent diet which includes a thermogenic (hydroxycut hardcore), a protien shake with creatine (wheyabolic extreme), and a daily sports multivitamin.

when most people come up to me they would never guess im a fighter because of my gut (and most the time dont belive me untill i show them footage of my fights).

anyways what workouts can i do to burn my midsection fat away and get my abs that i know i have under all my fat to show?!

I wrote down all my food and water intake for 2 months and had a frend of mine who is a personal trainer and a state champ body builder look at my diet. He made some suggestions that were a big help. It helped my fight game a lot too. I would find a professional, most poeple are full of shit. it's not a big deal to have some one look at you'r log book and it woun't cost too much.

DUDE! Im Navy too and you DO NOT want to lose that neck man! That keeps your Navy BF standard lower! LOL! I like to keep my workouts changed up too. The same shit day in and day out gets BORING plus your body develops muscle memory and gets TOO used to the workout. For cardio, I have started training to do a triathalon, it sounds harder than it is. I like to swim in the AM and bike or run in the afternoon AFTER weights. I still like to get my weights in. Sometimes, when I dont feel like working out I like to get an awesome interval training in. I have a heavy bag at home so I go three solid minutes on the bag a max set of push ups after that, a max set of of power clean and jerks and a max set of flutter kicks or leg lifts. . . rest one to two minutes and repeat until ive finished like 30 - 45 minutes of working out. I hear you on the beer thing man, thats a TOUGH crutch to give up since we both work around the same kind of people and we all drink. When I go out (especially on football sundays) I like to get a workout in first thing in the AM and not eat til I get to were im going, I really try to stay away from anything deep fried and heavy in carbs. . . basically, I stick to chicken winges and get my carbs from beer! I know this sounds odd and not normal but its been working for me. I am 5'4" and stalky as shit so I know how this Navy standard thing goes! I bench almost 300 and squat 5 but because im bigger in the midsection the Navy autamatically assumes im fat an lazy! SO, to fight this, I started to watch my calorie intake, I only cheat on weekends and watch what im eating during the week, I dont "count" calories per say but I like to say I am "calorie aware!" This plan has been good for a total of 20 pounds of fat lost and 3-4 inches off my waist, PLUS, I am stronger (probably from a better diet and more excercise) and even with the weight drop my neck is 17-20 inches depending on how anal the taper is. . . I dunno, if I could give one piece of advice it would be make sure you are putting yourself into a 500 calorie deficit a day for a loss of one pound a week or do more if you can. One thing I did notice though was drastically cutting calories effected effected my workout efficiency, just a thought and just some personal advice from someone who knows all about our glorious "Navy Standard!"

the big thing for me is that being in the navy we have bca standards and for me being 6'3" i have to be under 216 or else i get taped. my ideal goal is to be 205lbs and be at about 8-11%bca and be pretty ripped if not really toned, like i said thats my end goal.

everyone at my work thinks im fat just because i have a wider midsection and a slightly chubby face (but thats how i have always been untill recently when i have started working out more hardcore), i have about 5 months till i transfer to my new squadron and i want to make a good impression, so another question i have is what other workout routines can i do to loose weight fast but tone up to? also are there any workouts you can do to loose neck fat? (stupid question i know but jw).

also thanks to EVERYONE that has been responding you have all been a huge help and keep the replies comming!!

circuit training, muscle confusion, and focus on making your body a greater asset then obstacle and you will be fine develop control over your entire body from the feet to head make it command and do exactly what you want it too

find your maximum heartrate and then exercise for at least 1 hour a day at 60% of that number. This way you utilize fat fro fuel rather than glycogen. For a lot of people this is a brisk walk pace or easy jog. You may think I am nuts but its all about how your body fuels itself during exercise. The major thing is you need to reduce your calorie intake significantly. No sugars and only good carbs no junk food like chips tacos tortilla chips etc. Stay away from breads as much as possible. Minimum of a 500 calorie a day deficit in calories burned vs calories ingested. You didnt get that belly quickly so you cant get rid of it quickly be patient drink a lot of water no soda beer etc. You gotta get serious it will go away.

Lay off the twinkies eat more protein and less junk including beer which is major carbs. maybe try some carb blockers since you are eating government food which we all know is FAT. Get some kettlebells and train hard with them a full routine. The major thing for abs is diet. Six packs come mostly from the kitchen not the gym....

I was once at the exact same point you were at. Now I'm 6'3 and 205, fairly trim.

The first suggestion would be to get off of the creatine. When trimming down I ditched the protein powders as well. My main diet was brown rice, egg whites, oatmeal and some lean greens. Meat would be plain chicken breast or white fish. It did wonders for me, I hve some pics if you'd want I can email you.

Hey Bud,seems all us blokes have the same drama. Best results I have seen and maintained are from a liquid only DETOX diet (juice or lemon detox). Do that for 7 days, then it's all about cardio. You gotta run bro. Make sure you carb intake is low and your protein has minnimal carbs and fat.
