Is anyone else getting tired of listining to fans boo at m.m.a events when the fight goes to the ground or their in the clinch? Dont get me wrong I love to watch fighters stand and bang but I also appreciate grappling and bjj! Rich Franklin said it best it's like you are working your way through a phisical chess match! Being an amature fighter myself its just urks me listning to fighters putting it all on the line getting boo'd!
I agree. Fans are growing increasingly impatient and looking for bloody brawls as entertainment. In which case they should just buy the Ultimate Knockout DVD and be happy with that.
The booing shows no respect for the fighters and pushes refs to stand them up too fast.
Yeah, but part of the problem is most casual fans don't understand fully what's happening when the fighters are on the ground, all that they understand is that they are no longer trying to bash each others' faces in. In the old days of UFC I too got really impatient when a fight went to the ground; of course the ground game has been developed a lot since then, but it was more of a lack of knowledge that made me interested than a poor display of athletics.
So basically, I can understand the reasoning behind people booing, but I still hate when it happens.
It still sucks tho and the fighters don't deserve it. In his fight against Vera, Keith Jardine brought up the fact that he had never been boo'd before and I'm sure it bothered him some.
All those guys who boo i'd like to see them put on a better show lol
fans these days dont know nothing about mma...they think mma is all about knockout...it pisses me off to hear fans boo...its like why did they buy a ticket...sheesh...ufc fans piss me off cause they only like ufc...they should learn what mma is before buying a friggin ticket
I hate the booing. Unless it's legit, like for a lay-n-pray or someone holding a fighter against a cage for the whole fight. It affects the fighters (except maybe Lesnar, who is used to being a "heel") and demonstrates a complete lack of knowledge of the sport. These are the same people who put on a TapOut tee shirt and go around running their mouths at the local bar on fight night. Casual fans don't surprise me, but the fact that they're the ones buying the tickets does.
