A fight with Thales Leites, Anderson is clearly shown taking vaseline off his face and rubbing it on his chest and arms.  He does it with his back turned away from any official being able to see it.

This is NOT his cornerman doing it, but Silva doing it himself.

No one complained about it during his fight.  No one said anything about it after.

Almost every person on this site ranks Silva in the top 5 of any picks I see here, this is probably a silly question but why give Anderson all the respect when he HIMSELF knowingly.

Keep in mind he was fighting a known BJJ guy as well

And of course, not a single reply (while every other thread has had multiple replies)

Is Anderson really not cheating here fight fans?

I know this is BJ's site, and I have mad respect for Penn and everything he has done, but seriously, for everyone that has a opinion on greasing, no one will comment on it when its about Silva?

And your point is? Most of us already knows about this (which is why Anderson isn't on my Fav MMA fighters list) but I suspect you'll get different responses from different members. My thinking is that most fans expect Anderson to finish most guys with his stand up so the idea of using the excess grease from his face on his body escaped a lot of people notice (most of the fans where concerned with Leites poor performance in that fight & Anderson's not engaging him on the ground and the pervious bad impression that was leftover from Anderson's fight with Cote). If he does this again with his fight with Maia then you can say he a serial cheater from then on.

However I don't see how you can still defend GSP (from your previous thread) for doing the same thing (yes his corner man cheated for him but did you see him stand up and say don't do that?). Shrek and Hughes weren't the only ones saying GSP greases (Kos and Mayhem Miller said so too) and BJ and his camp warned the NSAC ahead of the fight that GSP's corner might try to grease him during the match? That looks to be a pattern of cheating as well don't you think?

However as this is water under the bridge I don't think we need to re-argue the whole UFC 94 thing (been there and done that). GSP won & BJ loss. BJ got over it, got way better, and WILL kick GSP's ass next time around for the rematch (assuming GreaSyP doesn't run off to the Olympics after the Hardy fight). On my score card they are still 1 for 1 (BJ got robbed in the first fight by BS judging). The 3rd fight will settle it.

i remember this! I recall a certain die-hard Penn fan saying somethin along the lines of "c'mon guys, this is BJPenn.com, greasing is cheating regardless of who it is, whether it was an opponent of BJ's or not." i agree, i wasn't as big of a Penn fan as i am now as i was 9 or 10 months ago after UFC 97 happened but i was still a member and read that in a discussion.

Pretty fucked up of Silva to have done that. especially after the whole grease-gate ordeal became public. Im sure Silva and Soares have better things to do than check up on all the latest MMA news but it's tought to argue that Silva and Co. didn't know any better or hadnt heard of grease-gate vedict. Do ya think maybe Silva was scared he'd get caught in a submission?

ducky most people on this site though have Silva in there top 5, every thread that i read about silva has him being declared a god in MMA.

You have to admit, you are in the minority when it comes to guys who have called out Silva on this. I guess my thought is why. I fully understand that I am on BJ's site but I also know we have a lot of smarter MMA fans on this site as well. People who aren't simply BJ fans, but MMA fans.

I guess I would like to see a more level playing field.

PS you mentioned KOS saying he greased, everything I have read says Koscheck actually supported GSP on this, here is a quote from an article

A lot of former opponents of his, like Matt Hughes, have said he felt especially slippery to them. Did you feel any grease on him when you fought him?

Oh, no. I didn’t feel anything when I fought him. That isn’t the reason I lost that fight. The reason I lost the fight is because he was better than me that night.

yeah but who knows how many times greasegates been using vaseline, almost everyones who has fought him said he was slippery.

James,

All of his previous fighters claimed that GSP greased? Like who?

Matt Hughes said that he felt that GSP was 'slick' but also stated that he NEVER accused GSP of greasing, it was blown out of proportion. Here is his quote:

I think a lot of people need to go back and reread last week’s blog, including GSP. At no point did I accuse Georges of putting grease on himself.

Then it comes to Sherk. Sherk did mention after the fight that GSP felt slippery, but when he was point blank asked by a show about it he confirmed that he says "I never really said anything about anything, I am not going to cry about it after the fight"....

Some websites claimed Matt Serra said it too, Serra never made a complaint about GSP being greased up during the fight.

"Nobody caught him doing anything against me."

Mayhem Miller's thoughts on GSP greasing was that he could 'smell' the vaseline on GSP...of course he could smell it since it is put on his face before a fight....I think it had to do more with someone else said so I am...I mean why didn't he just say it outright when the fight happened.

but based on the dozens of fights GSP has been in, to be accused as a cheater is extreme. I think his cornerman made a mistake in this case and shouldn't have.

But that being said this thread is about Silva, and why no real public outcry about SILVA fully greasing himself. I want to see the Silva fans defend this one, and we all know we have a tonne of them on on'es face and nose before a fight. All you really smell is vaseline since it is rubbed about around your face.

bottom line is whether GSP did something outside of the rules himself is highly debatable, so are the rules. When it came to the BJ fight, the right person was reprimanded (in this case his cornerman). Question is why isn't the 'right man' reprimanded in this Silva situation?

Silva is an arrogant disrespect weakass cheating punk THANK YOU for this thread. I'm tired of defending my opinion of this wormy MFer. I say Chael Sonnen has the right skill set to beat Silva and 50 people tell me i need to learn more about MMA. So for all you diehard Silva fans explain this one please.Trash GSP all day long but Silva is perfection. A cheater is a cheater nomatter who it is.If Silva did this with Leites he will have a very healthy minerael oil bath for maia. MAIA TAKE HIS GREASY ARM HOME WITH YOU!!!!!!

Are you serious? This thread is retarded, stop trying to find reasons to hate fighters. This is just a wate of time.

bluzone,, if you read james's comment carefully. you will see that he didn't say anyone accused gsp of greasing. he said almost everyone gsp fought said that he(gsp) felt slippery. offcourse the other guys are gonna swallow their pride and and not make accusations, cause theres no proof to claim on those fights(OUT OF SITE, OUT OF MIND), suck it up and move on right. on the other hand BJ vs. gsp2, the mother'f-er(gsp) got caught on tape,,, proof! your never gonna know everything that goes on behind the scenes, none of us are(O,O,S-O,O,M). Danas' gonna try not to loose gsp, hes' a money maker for the ufc. so if it takes making other fighters keep their mouths shut, with alot of money you can make it happen. but with the tape, and the officials catching it, its another thing. thats why Dana was soo pist!! I really don't like making comments on these topics but it always comes back, and it goes on,and on, and on. between BJ fans, and gsp fans. it seems as if you posted this thread to start up another debate on the greasegate. c'mon man let this shit go already. I fkn' hate gsp, and hope that he and BJ meet again in the octogon, and I pray that BJ does to gsp what he did to jens pulver,, x2!!!! Now as far as a. silva, fck him to. never did like him either. been waiting for someone to destroy him. I hope Maia delievers us from this fool!!!! PEACE OUT... GUAM FOR BJ.PENN bluzone said:

This was obviously done sarcastically. I mean it looked to me like he did that almost making fun of all the grease talk. I mean come on....there was no need for him to grease. He wasn't going to the ground.
