Yeah, fishing in the midwest makes California seem like a desert! Except for the fly fishing, it's nice out here but you have to drive drive drive to get to the good streams from the bay area. And then there are tons of people.

Before I had kids, I was doing a ton of fishing all over the state.  The older you get, the harder it is to jump in a car, drive 4-5 hours on a friday night and then get up and fish at 5am.  I guess I have to start planning naps into my trips.

Going to do a 3 day trip up to northern california this summer when my wife and kids go back to michigan for a week.  I can't wait.  I may build a new rod just for the trip.
