“Filthy” Tom Lawlor vs. Michael Kuiper announced for UFC on Fuel TV 9
The UFC on Fuel TV 9 event is still adding fights to the card, as a middleweight match-up between TUF alum Tom Lawlor vs. Michael Kuiper has been announced. The event is set to be held in Sweden on April 6. This is the seventh match announced for the already sold out event that features Alexander Gustafsson vs. Gerard Mousasi as the Main Event.
Tom Lawlor who is coming off a tough decision loss in his last fight against Francis Carmont looks to get back on track against Kuiper. Lawlor who has only two wins in his last six fights, may be fighting for the chance to stay on the UFC roster. He most likely will look to get this fight to the ground quickly as possible against the heavy-handed Kuiper. Lawlor will be fighting for the eighth time in the UFC having gone 4-4 in those appearances.
Michael Kuiper will be fighting for the third time under the UFC banner; he is 1-1 so far. Kuiper has the ability to end the fight at any time with his punching power. Seven of his twelve victories have come by way KO/TKO. His last fight against Jared Hamman ended in the 2nd round via TKO. Even though he has ended most of his fights with his hands, Kuiper does boast a strong ground game having notched four submission victories as well.
Other notable fighters on the card are Ross Pearson, Ryan Couture, and Matt Mitirone.
