Fight Night 36 Results: Oliveira Traps Ogle in a Triangle Choke, Picks up 3rd Round Win
Charles Oliveira was looking to make his tenth octagon appearance a special one by locking up a win early on tonight. He opened up with a strong performance, landing a takedown in the opening minute. He transitioned to mount right away and took the back of Ogle and started working for a rear naked choke. Unfortunately for Oliveira, he could not take advantage of the body triangle and Ogle stayed in disadvantageous positions for the entire round.
Andy Ogle is looking to bounce back from a loss against Cole Miller and he started going in the right direction at the start of the second round. He defended two takedowns and actually ended up on top himself. Ogle showed improved grappling skills once again later on in the fight where he took the back of Oliveira after a scramble. While it did not lead to anything, it was still impressive.
To play it safe, Andy Ogle would have to fight aggressively in the third to take home a victory. He opened up aggressive, but was dropped quickly with a short left. He regained his composure quickly but it was not a good way to kick off an important round.
Andy Ogle landed a takedown, but he walked right into a triangle choke attempt from Oliveira. It was locked in tight and there was no way he was getting out of that lock.
Charles Oliveira def. Andy Ogle by way of Submission (Triangle) 2:40 of Round 3
