Fellow Countrymen Yuri Alcantara And Wilson Reis Square Off At UFC Fight Night 36 In Brazil
The UFC will be returning to Brazil in February, and two more Brazilians have been added to the lineup. The fans will need to decide who to cheer for, however, as they will be facing off against one-another.
Brazilian bantamweights Yuri Alcantara and Wilson Reis will meet at UFC Fight Night 36, which takes place February 15th, at the Arena Jaragua in Jaragua do Sul, Santa Caarina, Brazil. The card will be headlined by a highly-anticipated middleweight bout between Lyoto Machida and Gegard Mousasi. UFC officials announced the contest earlier today.
Alcantara’s not had the best of luck this year; his last outing saw him drop a unanimous decision at Fight Night 26 to “The California Kid” Urijah Faber, and prior to that, his debut fight in the division was ruled a no-contest when it was decided that some of his strikes were landing illegally to the back of Pedro Nobre’s head.
Reis is currently on a five-fight winning streak, most recently defeating Ivan Menjivar by decision at UFC 165 in September. The UFC picked up Reis after a two-fight losing streak had caused Bellator to cut him from the roster. Since then he’s turned things around, and looks to make Alcantara number six in his current win streak.
Here’s how the card is shaping up:
•Lyoto Machida vs. Gegard Mousasi
•Francis Carmont vs. Ronaldo Souza
•Cristiano Marcello vs. Joe Proctor
•Viscardi Andrade vs. Nicholas Musoke
•Andy Ogle vs. Charles Oliveira
•Jesse Ronson vs. Francisco Trinaldo
•Thiago Tavares vs. Zubair Tuhugov
•Rodrigo Damm vs. Ivan Jorge
•Nate Loughran vs. Erick Silva
•Yuri Alcantara vs. Wilson Reis
