Fabers Replacement Opponent To Be Announced On FX This Friday | UFC NEWS
By: Jason Kindschy
Dana White is expected to announce Urijah Faber’s new opponent for UFC 148 on Friday during “The Ultimate Fighter Live” broadcast on FX.
This highly anticipated announcement follows the recent ACL injury sustained by UFC bantamweight champion, and ‘TUF Live’ coach, Dominick Cruz. This Friday marks the 11th episode of this season, and the last quarter-final matchups, but fans will also be tuning in to see who Faber’s mystery opponent will be.
This Friday’s episode of “The Ultimate Fighter Live” features Team Cruz’s Vinc Pachel taking on Team Faber’s Chris Saunders, and teammates square off as Team Faber’s Al Iaquinta faces Andy Ogle. The winners of this week’s fights join the other two victors from last week’s semi-final bouts, which include James Vick and Mike Chiesa.
Urijah Faber and his new adversary will clash for the freshly minted interim bantamweight title. The rumors are flying as to who will get the chance to fight “The California Kid” for the interim strap, but the heavy favorites include, Ivan Menjivar and Renan Barao who are already scheduled to fight each other. Also in the mix and coming fresh off a brutal KO of former champ Miguel Torres, is Michael McDonald. Another name circling the pot is Brad Pickett, whose recent win over Damacio Page boosted him up the bantamweight ladder.
“The Ultimate Fighter Live” airs every Friday on FX at 10 p.m. EST/ 7 p.m. PT, and this week is sure to be interesting, make sure to tune in!
