Faber Unwilling To Wait For Cruz To Return, If Victorious This Weekend Will Defend Interim Title | UFC NEWS

“You know, I don’t care. If Cruz is gonna heal up in time to have this fight, let’s do it. I’d love to fight him next. That’d be ideal for me, but I’m not putting my life on hold because of him not being able to stay healthy. If he’s physically unable, I’m not gonna put my life on hold. This is what I do for a living. This is what I love to do. He’s not the biggest name in the sport. I mean, I understand Carlos Condit waiting for Georges St. Pierre. That’s a huge opportunity for him. I feel like my opportunity is to fight, and I love doing it. I love putting on a show, and I’ll put on a show, with or without Cruz. I’d love for it to be him, but I’m not gonna wait.”

Fighting for the UFC’s interim bantamweight interim title this weekend, Urijah Faber tells UFC Tonight that he will not sit on the shelf and wait for Dominick Cruz to return to action.

  1. Lyer says:

I like his attitude, hope he wins the interim title first before considering defending it!

  2. John M says:

I ****ing love Faber true champ right here! JUST SCRAP!!

  3. Thurgood Jenkins says:

Was never a big Faber fan, but after this statement respect for him went up 100%. **** Condit.

  4. Pancho says:

Hell yeah that’s a true champion mind set right there

  5. Bg says:

    Will Barao do the same?

Faber better not look past this kid.

  6. Mc says:

Faber is such a douche hope he loses. He acts like he’s the champ when really if he does win he just has a #1 contenders place holder belt. There’s nobody for him to fight anyway. The division is weak. I hope he gets his head beat in like munoz since they both seem to be looking past their current fight

  7. Clay says:

Fabee is cool, condit has alot to learn from him

  8. Know Dat Feel Bro says:

C’mon faber. Know you got this in the bag.

  9. Xaninho says:

Sounds like he’s already looking past his upcoming opponent. That’s a mistake, a real bad mistake.

    • Scotty says:

he isnt looked past anyone.. The media asked him a question about “IF he wins, will he wait for Cruz?” He just didnt bring up in a conversation.. He is just answering the media’s question, Barao did the same thing and said the exact same thing Faber said.. People have to remember these quotes mostly come from press conferences or interviews and are asked these questions.. Just the person writing the article doesnt post the question before the quoted material..
