Faber to Fight for Interim Title At UFC 148 & Cruz To Remain As Coach On TUF | UFC News

White comments on Urijah Faber staying on the UFC 148 card and fighting for an Interim Title & Cruz remaining as coach on TUF.
“So what’s going to happen is Urijah Faber will, he’s going to fight still. He’s going to fight on the same card. Now, I’m looking for the right opponent. The guy who deserves this shot at Urijah Faber,”
When asked if the bout would be for the Interim Title White replied The answer is yes,”
“Cruz will stay on. Cruz has done a phenomenal job coaching his team,”
“Even the other night if (Mike) Rio would have won, but (Andy) Ogle beat him, but it’s still neck and neck. Yes, he will stay a coach.”
Faber has also commented on the situation.
“That’s the first I’ve heard of that. I think that’s the best idea,” Faber said about the title shot coming at UFC 148. “Dominick’s been out since his last fight. He had his hand surgery. Now he’s out with another surgery, so a year and a half, and I think Renan Barao or Ivan Menjivar or maybe Michael McDonald, but I’m not sure.”
He comments on a potential match-up with Renan Barao.
“He’s as tough an opponent as Dominick, but a little more dangerous. A little bit slower on his feet, but has a lot of ways to win,” said Faber about Barao.

when mcdonald takes the interum title, it will hopefully take some of the lime light off of jon jones for being the youngest champ
Faber vs Barao for fight of the year.
I really wanted to see Barao vs Macdonald first, that would find the true contender.
They also both have a 5-0 record under the UFC (WEC records included because of the merger) and I always love a fight where “the 0 has to go”.
Unfortunately this can’t happen in time, and if Faber gets an opponent, Barao and MacDonald deserve it above any other BW by a big margin.
That would be fine if the champs only fought once a year, but if they did that they would lose a contender for later in the year.
My guess is the UFC will give Faber his choice just knowing all the favortism he has been shown over the years. Mcdonald or Bareo should get the fight but i have a feeling Faber will pick Menjvar (sorry spelling) I feel Mcdonald and bareo are way way more dangerous
Faber called out Barao dude.
Yeah i just got off work haven’t seen or heard anything since last night MMAinsider show. IMO No way faber can handle bareo or Mcdonald. I’m ahuge Cruz fan and I think he will have just as much trouble as faber with bareo and mcdonald.

Faber gets whatever he asks for its stupid and so are interim champs. The should just call it the number one contender belt. On top of it who the f is he gonna fight? They don’t know who cuz there isn’t really anyone that hasnt already lost a title fight like Faber. He’ll beat someone that isn’t ready for a title shot and be cocky as hell. I really hope he gets embarrassed and KO’d. How many title shots has he has in the past couple years? He ruled the wec before Zuffa brought in real comp for him to fight. Now he’s just a good fighter who’s way to cocky
