Faber On Cruz: He Hits Like A Weirdo But He Shouldn’t Be Stripped Of His Title | UFC NEWS

“I don’t feel like he should be stripped of the belt. The guy’s earned it. Part of the reason why he’s injured is because he puts it all out there and hits like a weirdo, but he throws punches anyways. I wouldn’t count the guy out. I don’t think they should strip him of the title…. He’s still, in my opinion, considered the champion. I don’t think you strip a guy of the belt. I would be pissed if they stripped me of the belt.”

In a recent interview with Sherdog.com, UFC bantamweight fighter, Urijah Faber talked about the state of his division and what he thinks should be done in regards to the extended absence of the champ, Dominick Cruz.

  1. The Way Of The Dutchman says:

Stripping fighters titles is a shitty thing, but the UFC can’t afford to have an interim-champion fighting in a weightclass for too many fights, it takes away the marketability for the PPV championship fights. Not many fans like to see an interim champ defend the interim belt for ages.

  2. Gargoyle Wrestling says:

This is not the Cruz Fighting Championships. Strip the belt and make Barao the new champion. Let Cruz retire or rehab and IF he comes back then let him fight Barao for the championship. No different than if he wasn’t stripped. Fukc this interim crap. If you’re hurt and can’t fight then your done until you can. Why is this a problem?

  3. 123 says:

nah, if they take his belt away its wrong, hes earned its & is a good champion.. if you was him you would be gutted.

  4. Ddddddd says:

Another guy that you would have to imagine trains like a f$ckin mutant. If you physically can’t hold up too the amount of training that it takes for you to be successful in fighting then you don’t have the genetics it takes to fight your style.

  5. KIDD433 says:

Does anyone else think Cruz looks like à retard when he fights?

  6. confucius says:

strip the belt or not nobody cares about watching cruz fight. he has the most awkward style to make up for the lack of finishing abilities. whether he returns now or later well just be watching him lose to barao anyways.

  7. Drew says:

    U won’t ever have a belt

  8. kjtrlt says:

They shouldn’t strip the belt from him, you have the interim champ, he can fight another time or two while Cruz get better. If not, then why have an interim title in the first place? Why not just take the title from any injured champ? That’s the whole point of doing it in the first place.

  9. Dan Jenkins says:

Had a heated discussion with my brother over this one he says let Cruz keep the belt and I said give it to Barao. I agree it’s a harsh thing to do taking a title from someone especially when they work as hard as Cruz he has earned the belt. But I think it more unfair to Barao to keep his career on hold while waiting for the injured champion, I have a sneaky suspicion Barao plans a move to featherweight if Jose moves to lightweight maybe Barao wants titles at two weight classes whether he can do it or not is irrelevant its a dream he’s chasing, Dominic injured himself in training leading up to the Faber (tuf) fight and Barao has been interim since, like I said before its a dodgy thing to strip a title but it was Cruz own fault, I’m not saying Cruz shouldn’t have first crack (tho a tune up fight would be a good idea before facing Barao after a LONG layoff) but you can’t hold up an entire roster of a division for the sake of one man, your caring for the needs of one at the cost of many
