EXCLUSIVE VIDEO| Liz Carmouche wants Ronda Rousey in 2013

With UFC President Dana White finally open on the idea of establishing a women’s division in the Octagon, top ranked bantamweight Liz Carmouche tells us that she wants a piece of champion Ronda Rousey in early 2013.
A former United States Marine, Carmouche was originally slated to face Olympic silver medalist Sara McMann at the now cancelled Strikeforce: Cormier vs. Mir card. McMann suffered a foot injury and may be on the shelf for quite some time.

In the meantime, Rousey needs a new challenge as she has already defeated top contenders Miesha Tate and Sarah Kaufman. Carmouche is 7-2 in her professional career with two losses to former champions Kaufman and Marloes Coenen. Carmouche has yet to be dominated in the cage and came extremely close to defeating Coenen for the Strikeforce title nearly two years ago

Carmouche wants Rousey either in Strikeforce or the UFC if original opponent McMann is still out.

“I’m really hoping to be [on the next Strikeforce card] and if McMann is still injured, I want to go up against Rousey,” Carmouche told BJPenn.com Radio.

“Ronda, I know we’ve talked about it before on Twitter and I just hope you’ll take me into consideration as your next opponent because I am a contender to that belt.”

  1. Hannah says:

Man, Liz Carmouche isn’t a contender for Ronda’s belt. She’s ranked 6 professionally and the only top level people she’s fought are Kaufman and Coenen. Everyone else isn’t worth mentioning.

She’d get her arm ripped off just the same as all the rest.

The only person people want to see Ronda fight is Cyborg. And maybe McMann, because it would be 2 Olympians fighting each other.

  2. MooreUSMC says:

    Rousey by armbar?

  3. Manny H. says:

I think this new & improved Liz Carmouche will surprise most everyone. Its crazy to say she’s only fought Coenen & Kaufman, those were the #1 & #2 for a while. I also think that both Jan Finney & Kaitlyn Young(who KO’d Tate) are pretty tough, known fighters. Whether you like her or not Liz is gunning for that title.
