EXCLUSIVE| Matt Riddle Joins BJPenn.Com Radio Tonight to Discuss His Release From the UFC| UFC NEWS
Join BJPenn.Com Radio tonight as hosts Bryan Levick and Mitch Ciccarelli will continue to go over this past Saturday night’s historic main event at UFC 157 in Anaheim. The UFC Women’s Bantamweight Championship bout between Ronda Rousey and Liz Carmouche certainly lived up to all of the hype and if anything exceeded expectations.
Leading things off will be former US Olympic Silver Medalist and one of the founding fathers of Team Quest, Matt Lindland. Although the noise has quieted down a bit, there is still a lot of work to be done if we plan on saving wrestling from being cut from the Olympic Games in 2020. We’ll also ask Lindland about the Dan Henderon-Lyoto Machida bout from UFC 157 and where he thinks Henderson goes from here.
Matt Riddle will join us less than 24 hours after being released from the UFC for failing a second drug test for marijuana in the last seven months. His first mishap came after he defeated Chris Clements at UFC 149 in July. In what was his first submission victory of his career, Riddle was awarded the Submission of the Night bonus when he submitted Clements two minutes into the third round. He was suspended for 90 days and the win was subsequently changed to a no-contest. Riddle is prescribed medical marijuana by his physician to help him relax and sleep. The TUF 7 contestant has been very vocal about how helpful the drug has been in helping him deal with his anxiety. As of this article the UFC has yet to announce whether or not his win over Che Mills at UFC on Fuel TV 7 on February 16 in England will also be overturned.
Newly crowned MFC Lightweight Champion Graham Spencer will talk to us about his third round submission win over Mukai Maromo at MFC 36 on February 15. The win was his fourth in a row and improved his overall record to 10-1. Spencer has competed in both the featherweight and lightweight divisions and may attempt to win titles in both weight classes.
If you missed Dennis Bermudez’s Fight of the Night barn-burner with Matt Grice at UFC 157, I suggest you go and watch it now. The two men waged a war of attrition and despite both of them being severely hurt, they refused to go down. Grice dropped Bermudez in the first, but the New York native survived and nearly finished Grice in the third round with an all out attack that would’ve sent most other fighters to the locker room wondering what happened. The win was Bermudez’s third in a row after suffering a three fight losing streak.
