Exclusive | BJ Penn Transcript Part 6 | "I Feel 22 Again, Ready To Go To The Belly Of The Beast" | UFC NEWS
June 4th Rory Macdonald respectfully called out UFC legend and future UFC Hall of Famer BJ “The Prodigy” Penn. BJ has been hinting lately that he would be open to a possible return but it would have to be the right situation. BJ Penn accepted that challenge and it is possible this fight could take place in Toronto at UFC 152 on September 22, 2012.
The Prodigy shares with the Pulver brothers at the Just Scrap Radio Show Episode 8, he is willing and ready to fight wherever the fight is held. If UFC 152 is in the hometown of the Tri-Star camp, BJ is ready to into the belly of the beast to slay the dragon.
Abel Pulver: “This fight is being rumored it hasn’t been completely confirmed for UFC 152 in Canada. Was there any thought on you holding off and sitting it out to see if they’ll have it in Hawaii? Or are you just fine with having the fight in Canada, right where Tri star is and being right there in their face?”
“Just go into the belly of the beast, Abel. Go over there and take care of this.”
Jens Pulver: “You know in your mind, the kind of training camp you need. So are you going to be active or proactive in your training camp – saying this is how I want it because we usually follow the schedule that someone places in front of us? But are you gonna be more active because you know your body. Saying this is how I wanna do it, somebody just hold that stop watch and make sure I’m doing it long enough.”
“You know, I promise you, I will be more active. One more thing, this 8 months rest will be about 11 months before I step into the octagon. But I think this 8 months rest did wonders, I feel like a 22 year old kid. I have a lot of things on my mind, a lot of things I want to do. A lot of ways I want to train and work out.
This rest did me good. I feel strong, no injuries. I don’t think I’m stupid like before, how I would say “okay 3 months out, let’s start sparring!” and then spar ‘till the rest of the fight.
Then one month before the fight I can’t make it through the first round, and then I don’t know how much energy I’ll have when I am in the fight. But, I feel great. I have no fatigues and I fixed a lot of those different things. I promise, I’m taking this serious. It’s not because I miss the attention, this is because I want to prove that I’m better than what they saw at UFC 94. But no bad things- no controversy- I just want to prove that I’m better than what they saw last time.”
BJ Penn confesses been hanging out at the couch with the kids. He has a big belly and is 185lbs. He stops beating around the bush and says the first thing he’ll do is take off 20lbs. – get to 165 lbs and then jump in a camp. He’s not planning on losing weight during camp.
“I just want to take it off – do it. That’s my best weight right there. I know when I go in I’m focused ready to go. He ain’t going to see my feet coming. He ain’t gonna see my take down. He ain’t gonna be able to stop my submissions.
I feel very confident. I really feel everything is on par. I’m all natural everything. I feel my testosterone is back up. My adrenals, my testosterone is – the whole 9 – I feel good. I’m ready for this. I’m ready for this whole challenge. I’m ready to walk up to Toronto. I will fly up to Toronto – the belly of the beast. I’m gonna see a fire breathing dragon and gonna pull out my sword and I’m ready to do this.”
Jens Pulver was lovin’ it and was pumped just to hear it, as are we.
