Michael Chandler is claiming the A-side in his expected matchup with former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor. McGregor made headlines on Friday when he announced that the fight with Chandler has been officially booked for UFC 303 on June 29th. Despite McGregor’s social media announcement, the UFC has yet to formally announce the booking, as of this writing.

Conor McGregor has confirmed that he will be facing Michael Chandler at UFC 303 on June 29th. The comeback of ‘The Notorious’ has been long in the making. In the summer of 2021, the Irishman broke his leg in the final seconds of the first round against Dustin Poirier. As a result, Conor McGregor was forced to the sideline for well over two years. In the meantime, he appeared in the remake of the recently-released movie, Road House.

According to a recent report, Conor McGregor’s UFC return against Michael Chandler will be announced later this week. ‘The Notorious’ hasn’t competed since a first-round stoppage defeat at the hands of Dustin Poirier in July 2021. As many fans likely remember, Conor McGregor shattered his leg in that bout. As a result, he’s been kept on the sidelines for years. However, he’s kept himself busy by filming the remake of ‘Road House’. That film was released earlier this month to mixed reviews.

Chandler and Poirier are both awaiting their next UFC assignments for later in 2024. Poirier got back in the win column by defeating Benoît Saint-Denis at UFC 299.

The once-dominant UFC featherweight titleholder suffered a head kick knockout loss to current lightweight champion Islam Makhachev back in October 2023, and was recently put to sleep by Ilia Topuria at UFC 298. Volkanovski lost the 145-pound gold to “El Matador,” and now he is being advised to take some time off.

The original plan was to have the pair fight at December’s UFC 296 event, but the bout was ultimately pushed back due to various reasons.
