EXCLUSIVE | Bas Rutten Expected To Make Guest Coaching Appearance For Team Penn on TUF 19
While The Ultimate Fighter: Team Rousey vs Team Tate is still under way, all of the devoted members of Penn Nation wait in anticipation of “The Prodigy’s” return to action as a coach on TUF 19 against his long-time rival, Frankie Edgar.
In a recent appearance on BJPENN.COM’s Late Night Cageside Radio, MMA legend Bas Rutten told listeners that Penn has requested the former UFC champion and King of Pancrase to be a guest coach on this upcoming season of TUF. Bas told the Late Night Cageside crew, “B.J. now is starting training, and he just invited me to make a guest appearance for his team.” To the surprise of many, this would mark the first time Rutten would appear on the TUF series.
B.J. Penn was featured on last weeks episode of Inside MMA on AXS TV, telling Bas and Kenny how excited he was for the opportunity to coach TUF for a second season. A long time friend of Penn, “El’ Guapo” went on to say, “It is always good to hear from B.J., he is a good guy. His stance and my stance about steroids, I always love it when another guy feels the same. There’s no excuses for it, you dont need to do it. I didn’t do it, so then you dont need to do it you know? Nobody is special, I just train hard and that is the only thing you need to do.”
Should viewers be expecting the athletes on Team Penn to execute liver shots with grace and efficiency following a visit from Bas Rutten? We will all have to wait to find out!
