Evans Picks Silva Over Jones In Hypothetical Super Fight

Talks of super fights are here to stay and there is none bigger than that of a hypothetical Jon Jones vs. Anderson Silva.
Rashad Evans recently went on record during the UFC 138Fight Club Q&A and as one could expect picked Anderson Silva over Jon Jones. To be fair, there isn’t a man alive that Evans hasn’t picked over Jones, so while the statement is an interesting one, it really comes as no surprise.

Agreed Rashad! Personally a superfight between Silva and Bones would be epic. I do think Jones has the tools necessary to defeat Anderson but not just yet. I don’t think he’s developed enough as a fighter to say I can defeat Anderson Silva. If you really watch him fight (specifically his stand up) its really not all that crisp as it seems. He does have phenomenal timing in addition to those giraffe neck-like limbs (that are an advantage over anyone) but his speed and his ko power still need some work.
I saw a lot of holes in his game during the Rampage fight. Now even though the odds favored Jones in this fight I have to say Rampage’s head movement in that fight is probably the best he’s showcased his whole career. Jones missed half the shots he threw combined and if he wasn’t clinching after missing a shot, he found himself running to the other side of the cage instead of defending tactically. Rampage is no scrub so to speak, but if Rampage can make him miss more than anyone ever has in the octagon I don’t think Anderson would have a problem bobbing and weaving out of his punches.
Ultimately it’s nice to think about but personally I think it’s a bad fight for Jon Jones at this stage in his career. His only advantage would be his wrestling and gnp game which could be a hazard for Anderson. Jones is considerably longer. Therefore he’d have more leverage when controlling him on the ground. However with Anderson’s skill in bjj I don’t think it would take too long before he figures him out on the ground and locks in a submission. He truly is a pot of gold but lets allow him evolve a little more before he gives the Spider a real challenge. Unlike that raisin nut bastard from Oregon who continuously babbles out how he’s the true middleweight champion. Chael, Chael, Chael. Why we don’t rewind the clock to that night on August 7th 2010 when you, um …. how do I say this … TAPPED. Oh and when you tried to say you didn’t right after, that was awesome Chael. Jones for certain, Rashad, basically the dominant wrestlers, Machida and Shogun would be great fights also not that they would happen.
