Erik Perez Faces Off With Takeya Mizugaki Ready to Scrap at UFC on FS1: 2 in Indy
| UFC officials have announced that bantamweights Erik Perez (13-4 MMA, 3-0 UFC) and Takeya Mizugaki (17-7 MMA, 4-2 UFC) are set to square off at UFC on FOX Sports1: 2 on August 28th at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana. Both men are high contenders and will likely be vying for top contender spots in the UFC’s bantamweight division with a win.
Perez is a young prospect, at only 23-years-old, and is probably only a win or two away from a title shot. He’s finished all three of his UFC bouts within the 1st round, submitting John Albert then knocking out Ken Stone and Byron Bloodworth, and is now now heading into his upcoming bout with Mizugaki riding an eight-fight winning streak. He was set to fight Johnny Bedford at UFC 159 but had to withdraw from that bout due to injury. Instead he’ll return to face Mizugaki at the end of August.
He’ll have his hands fill with Takeya Mizugaki, a Japanese veteran who is also riding consecutive victories. He’s 4-2 in the UFC and has defeated Jeff Hougland and Bryan Caraway via decision in his last two fights.
