Erick Silva To Face Nate Loughran At Fight Night 36
Erick Silva will get a chance to bounce back from his devastating (and shocking) knockout loss to Dong Hyun Kim in October, as he is now scheduled to meet Nate Loughran at UFC Fight Night 36.
Silva arrived to the UFC with great fanfare but has stumbled on his assumed journey to the top, as he seems to struggle against top-flight competition in the division. Silva really needs to pick up a win here, or he might be facing a must-win situation in his next outing.
His opponent, Nate Loughran, has an impressive record of 2-0 in the UFC (10-1 in MMA competition), but actually hasn’t seen the inside of the Octagon in over five years. In his last UFC fight against Tim Credeur, he failed to answer the bell at the start of the third round due to an injury sustained in the contest, and afterwards asked for his release from the UFC in order to focus on his life away from the cage. The fighting bug has recently bit Loughran again it seems, as he will look to continue his unbeaten UFC streak, starting with the Brazilian slugger.
The matchup was first reported by Brazilian outlet Combate.
The main event of Fight Night 36 will be a bout between middleweights Lyoto Machida and Gegard Mousasi, and the show will take place Feb. 15 at Arena Jaragua in Jaragua do Sul, Santa Maarina, Brazil. Fox Sports 1 will be the host.
With this assumed addition, the card is shaping up as follows:
•Lyoto Machida vs. Gegard Mousasi
•Francis Carmont vs. Ronaldo Souza
•Cristiano Marcello vs. Joe Proctor
•Viscardi Andrade vs. Nicholas Musoke
•Andy Ogle vs. Charles Oliveira
•Jesse Ronson vs. Francisco Trinaldo
•Thiago Tavares vs. Zubair Tuhugov
•Rodrigo Damm vs. Ivan Jorge
•Nate Loughran vs. Erick Silva
