Ellenberger: Shields won’t be able to take me down

“He does have good grappling, good wrestling, but I’ve been training for this fight my whole life. Every year I’ve wrestled, every thing I’ve done, it’s basically for this fight right here. … No, I don’t think he’s going to take me down. He’s going to have to work really hard in order to, and I’ve been training with some of the best guys in the world.”
Tonight’s main event participant, Jake Ellenberger, tells the folks over at sherdog.com that he doesn’t think that Jake Shields will be able to take him down this evening.
While many believe Shields is a whiz on the canvas, he has to be able to get it there in order to shine. With Ellenberger’s wrestling pedigree it’s not entirely out of the realm of possibilities that Jake will have issues getting the bout where he likes it. However, former Olympian, Dan Henderson, was not able to keep it on the feet with Shields in their bout.
So can Ellenberger keep this fight on the feet? Which Jake you going for tonight?

Shields is taking him down for sure. He may stuff a few, but he won’t stuff them all. That being said, I’ll take Ellenberger will catch him with some of his big, power shots and may finish him. Scorecards, it will be Shields for sure.
true that.
Shields is overated. And while on that subject, he got lucky against Hendo. ~BobbO
