Edson Barboza On Varner | "He’s got to bring it. This fight is going to be a war"
By Jamie McAllister
Edson Barboza in an interview with TATAME.
Barboza comments on his opponent being changed.
“They changed my opponent but I am still focused. It doesn’t matter if he’s shorter, taller, a good wrestler or boxer. To me, what matters is
doing a good job. I’m focused on my game and my stategy. I want to go and fight, it doesn’t matter who I’m fighting with.”
Barboza comments on the fight still being an important one in the division despite Varners record winning only three of his last eight bouts.
“I don’t think so, he is back in the UFC it’s a proof he is a tough one. If they hired him back it’s because he has done good. We are talking about the biggest event and only good fighters in it. The guy is a former WEC champion, so there is a reason he is here. If he is back (in the UFC), he has got to bring it. This fight is going to be a war and I’m prepared for it.”
Barboza comments on getting a title shot in 2013.
“I don’t know. I hope so, but I’m not worried about it now. I am focuse on my next battle. I have to do my job, I gotta make some space to
make my next move. I love what I do, I love fighting and that’s what I want to do: work and fight the best. This is a tough division,
and only tough guys.”
