Ed Soares Says ‘Super Fights’ are Still in Anderson Silva’s Future

After former middleweight champion Anderson Silva’s (33-5) first UFC loss to Chris Weidman (10-0) put a momentary halt to superfights featuring Silva, some speculated that these talks would only resume if Silva were to defeat Weidman in a rematch, which has been scheduled for UFC 168, the last show of the year.

Pending the rematch, Silva’s manager Ed Soares recently stated in an interview with, that the talks of a superfight are still very relevant, especially with a victorious Silva come UFC 168:

“I think the superfights are still on the table. I think right now the superfights are in the future, but right now what should be on everyone’s mind should be the rematch with Chris Weidman.

“If he comes back and beats Chris Weidman,” Soares stated, “I don’t see the reason why the superfights can’t happen.”

Even with a second loss to Weidman, Silva’s legacy in the UFC is firmly cemented and although a loss may hurt hype and PPV buys for a superfight, lets not be hasty to put it out of the realm of possibility.

After Weidman shows that Silva is too old to compete and he strangles him out, Silva will be doing “legends” fights. He’s done unless he wants to fight Jones at 05. Doubt that will happen.

I don’t think Siva will win the rematch with Weidman personally, but if he can and dominantly then yea super fights are still in the future, but if Weidman subs and taps his ass out then probably not.

LOL Silva got caught slipping, he is going to destroy Weidmen in the rematch. Who are we kidding here they are light years apart in skill, Silva is far more talented, and will show it.

You are wrong Jay….Silva was done before the last fight. He will not win the rematch. Super fights are super over …he blew it!

i always thought it was funny when people discredit a fighter after one loss. But to call silva a joke just shows how much of a hater you are… there is literally nothing he can do except beat weidman and move up to fight jones. I’d bet if he beat jones you’d call jones overrated in your attempt to still call silva a joke. I can see him beating weidman. People keep saying WELL WEIDMAN WAS WINNING THE FIGHT BEFORE THE KO! A lot of fighters would be winning that fight with the way silva was fighting or lack thereof.

First of all stupid I didn’t call him a joke. If you are talking to me then get it right. I said he was done before the last fight and it proved to be true. I also said I didn’t think he would win the re match. Listen dummy it’s my opinion but I never called him a joke. I like AS but he did act dumb and paid dearly for it. I don’t think he deserves a rematch after the way he acted, and I do think he will lose again. I also think it sucks the way people are discrediting the great effort that Weidman gave to beat him. Th moral of this story is shut the fuck up if you are trying to break bad on me. You don’t even have your facts right…..asshole

Hey 757, he was talking about me I think. I actually DID call Silva a joke. I feel that he is one and has been for awhile even though he was still winning.
