Early Estimates Show UFC 148: Silva vs. Sonnen II May Have Done 1 Million Buys | UFC NEWS

While we will never know the truth of the matter, the lone source for UFC pay-per-view figures has and always will be, Mr. Dave Meltzer.

When people talk of buys, stating this PPV did this amount and this one did that, it is all based on his industry intelligence. The UFC never confirms figures, nor do the broadcasters, however, Meltzer’s time in the PPV business has gone on way before the UFC existed and therefore his estimates and contacts are widely considered as valid and on point.

With that being said, here is what he said via his subscription based newsletter about UFC 148: Silva vs. Sonnen II.

[box_light]The show broke a number of UFC records, but not the big one. Early estimates have the show doing 1 million buys on PPV, which would put it in the same range as the Brock Lesnar vs. Cain Velasquez fight on October 21, 2010, and be the largest UFC number since that time. That’s a very early number and could vary greatly, as noted by the Mania numbers. But it handily beat Mania numbers as that show is estimated at 670,000 in North America.[/box_light]

  1. T.DADDY says:

Nobody will break Brock n Cains record

    • You Cant Be Serious says:

Brock v Cain didnt set any records either, it clearly says no PPV “since” Brock v Cain had over a million buys. Ufc100 was the most bought PPV in UFC history, followed by Liddell v Couture, Couture v Sylvia and a couple others, not necessarily in that order. But UFC100 is definitely num1 all time

  2. killa87 says:

Fedor vs Brock would have shattered every record that ever existed. IMO

  3. WrestlingRules says:

1 Million buys…That’s around 50 MILLION boys…do you zombies finally understand the pre-fight rhetoric???? rofl…

    • Kingron84 says:

I understand that all that talk by Sonnen still couldn’t put the PPV buy rate past 3 of Lesnars PPV shows which goes to show that even if people hate him Lesnar was a money making machine for Dana.

  4. You Cant Be Serious says:

For a live gate, and attendance. But most definitely not PPV buys. Did you read the article? Its about PPV buys dummy, not gate $. Silva v Sonnen2 now has the record for a US MMA attendance and live gate $$. And yeah, **** you for liking that Canadian fairy faggot
