Due To Low Ratings UFC Pulls ‘Primetime’ Series
The switch from SPIKE TV to the FOX network has not been without its casualties to the promotion.
Last week, following the UFC on FOX 9 event, UFC President Dana White informed the media that because of low ratings the UFC’s Primetime specials would have to go on ‘hiatus’.
“[The UFC Primetime Show] is on hiatus, stated White. They are so expensive to produce.”
When UFC Primetime’s were featured on SPIKE TV they did well over 1 million viewers. The pre-fight pay-per-view promotional tool worked well for the UFC brass to help promote upcoming grudge matches and fights of note, but as of late, they have lost their impact.
Now on FOX Sports 1, UFC Primetimes have lost their effect. The shows that once garnered over 1 million views on SPIKE are now sitting at or below 150,000 views.
These low ratings, mixed with the cost of production and the UFC has opted to abandon the series, at least for now.
