Dos Santos Lost All Interest In Overeem Fight Once ‘Bigfoot Put Him In His Place’

“‘Bigfoot’ put him in his place. I no longer feel the wish to face him but I fight whomever the UFC puts in front of me. I will train aiming that guy and to be very well prepared to win. The limited fighters, guys who don’t believe in themselves, who don’t dedicate to the training and don’t take it seriously are the ones who make it to call for attention. They do it to hype themselves. It’s not that he [Overeem] is bad. He is an excellent fighter and he has great accomplishments in his career. You see (Chael) Sonnen making controversial statements as well but I’m not saying anything bad about him. Have you seen Sonnen? He is an excellent athlete… but he is better as a commentator.”

Junior dos Santos and Alistair Overeem were once scheduled to face-off for the UFC heavyweight title. Overeem got popped for elevated testosterone levels in a pre-fight drug screening and the fight was off.

Dos Santos went on to lose his title to Cain Velasquez and Bigfoot’s multi-year win streak was halted at the hands of Antonio ‘Bigfoot’ Silva.

These shifts in fate are apparently enough for JDS to lose interest in the grudge match the two strikers had pending.

  1. Ddddddd says:

Junior is genuinely a good dude I believe that has as valid a point as any. If he really is a clean fighter why would you want to put it on the line to a junkie?

  2. The Way Of The Dutchman says:

Bigfoot put him in his place? Bigfoot was Overeem’s toy for 2,5 rounds. Overeem got cocky and got caught. He taught him a valuable lesson about always keeping guard up, but it was still obvious Bigfoot was the lesser fighter skillwise.

  3. Alistair Connell says:

I’m not standing up for the guy because he has my name, but anyone that watched that fight knows that Overeem had it all wrapped up before the third round. He just over overexcited and too cocky and Bigfoot jumped at the opportunity. Really hoping to see them go at it again sometime.

can someone pls explain to me what this last part of the article means….
