Dos Santos Likely To Defend Title Against Overeem At UFC 146 In Las Vegas

Junior Dos Santos finally has a date penned for his first UFC title defense against Alistair Overeem.

UFC officials announced the likelihood of the matchup last night via twitter.

The two heavyweight fighters will likely face on in May’s UFC 146 event set to take place in Las Vegas Nevada’s MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Alistair Overeem is highly regarded as one of the best heavyweight fighters in the world. Owner of the Guinness Book of World Records title for most heavyweight combat titles held, the former Strikeforce, Dream and K-1 kickboxing champion earned his shot at the UFC title by taking out Brock Lesnar in the very first round of his UFC debut.

Dos Santos burst onto the UFC scene with a debut knockout over the highly regarded Fabricio Werdum. From the start of his UFC career no man has been able to top him and that includes the former undefeated champion Cain Velasquez, who Dos Santos beat at UFC on FOX 1 to win the UFC’s title.

This heavyweight clash between the division’s best strikers is sure to deliver fireworks.

  2. Xaninho says:

Can’t wait for this one! 3 months of waiting to go lol

  3. Ninja Oreo Dollop says:

JDS by ultimate nice guy, heavy hand destruction!

  4. James says:

Thought they might add this to the Silva vs Sonnen card and stack it if they were trying to get a 100 thousand in a soccer stadium.

  5. guess i better hit up the boys for some tickets…

  6. BigHurt says:

The reign of Dos Santos begins with Overeem. I would say 2nd round K.O by Dos Santos but, knowing Overeem weak chin, 1st round K.O. Dos Santos via over-hand smash!

    • Xaninho says:

Weak chin lol, 6(T)KO losses in 47 fights…yeah ok that’s weak. Like Wanderlei Silva with the same numbers in his record has a weak chin as well?

People who keep insisting on Overeem having a weak chin have weak minds.

  7. Jujitsu Player says:

Can’t wait for this fight. JDS by KO in the first round.

  8. DiazWon2012 says:

Idiots. Overeem is going to KO Dos Santos in the first round. No one in the Heavyweight Division is going to take out Overeem anytime soon. He is here to stay.

    • Ninja Oreo Dollop says:

I can’t wait for JDS to spank Overeem then his fans. All of you are gonna be JDS fans after he KO’s him!

    • Jujitsu Player says:

Haha we’ll see, JDS is going to smash his glass jaw to pieces. I think a couple of LHW’s could ‘takeout’ Overeem. Rua and Chuck knocked him the fuck out so how’s he going to handle JDS bombs….
