Dos Santos Issues Warning To Velasquez: Stand And Get Knocked Out Again | UFC NEWS

“I think considering me as the first heavyweight in the world, I think Cain is the second one for sure, at this time. I want to fight with the best fighters in the world, Cain Velasquez for sure will give me his best. I love to knock out people, I would love to do it again. He is pretty good on his feet, but, if he accepts to fight standing with me again he’s going to get knocked out again.”

In an interview with mmafighting.com, UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos, issued a strong warning to title challenger and former champion Cain Velasquez.

Will Cain take this fight to the ground or keep it standing with the KO king of heavyweights?

  1. TheTude says:

JDS is probably right but this fight wont be a standup match. Cain isnt dumb enough to get into a fist fight with JDS. Like i said, Cain wasn’t %100 last time and didnt get a chance to work his game plan. He was a bit out of shape and couldn’t dodge that huge overhand right, this time Cain is going to take JDS down and deliver some sweet meat grinder ground and pound!

    • santos says:

not to mention that it was an illegal blow to the back of the head. i like both fighters alot. cant wait for part 2 of 3. yes there will be a rubber match. as i predicted befor the first fight. great comment btw

      • zong says:

behind the ear yes, illegal NO

        • BJJWhiz says:

the punch that knocked him down was legal the strikes that followed up one of them went to theback of the head which caused him to go out dont belive me watch the fight again

      • T.DADDY says:

If you wanna start getting into illegal blows… Cain dropped Brock with a punch to the back of the head so you can go ahead with that BS… Cain wasn’t hurt… He got knocked the F out… And if he can’t get the takedown he will get KO’d again

  2. Not You says:

It’s funny, because Cain is so much faster than JDS. And JDS doesn’t even realize it yet. And obviously, Big Nog forgot, it’s not like Cain punched him in the head four times before he hit the ground or anything. JDS throws looping shots, Cain should keep a tight defense and move in when JDS starts to wing shots. I love JDS and his confidence, but at times it’s too much.

    • TheTude says:

thats what im saying, Cain will keep the fight close this time, tight and if JDS wants to hit the mat its gonna be a short fight

    • Carlos says:

I signed in just to tell u STFU

      • Not You says:

Why? Because I formed my own opinion. I’m the least biased when it comes to MMA. I love watching the sport, I love analyzing what is happening in the fights. I just tell it like I see it. If you can’t deal with that, then life if going to be rough on you buddy.

    • ZONG says:

JDS is FAR from a 1 dimensional “wild looping” power puncher. hes a quick and powerful counter puncher with 1 punch ko power and is athletic as hell. his footwork is topnotch and i highly doubt hes apushover in the grappling game. NO WAY cain gets inside JDS “looping punches” ur delusional. That being said Cain is the ONLY man that stands a chance. And I dont wanna hear nuthin bout the reem being in this convo either

  3. Mat says:

Finaly some sense! “The Tude” and “Not You” you guys are totally right. Im sick of reading comments like “JDS KO Rd 1″. Damn, that was a total fluke. JDS couldnt even finish fat Nelson even when he was exhausted. Cain will take him down and bring some real pain. JDS will learn that you need more than a fluke KO to retain the title… in the other hand I really think that Cain can be up there for a loooong time.

    • Not You says:

The most glaring weakness in the Nelson fight was the fact that Roy out-struck JDS in the third round. JDS says it in every interview, “I always go for the finish.” But in a 5 round fight with a motivated, cardio machine in Cain, that’s not a good strategy.

    • Ricthechamp says:

In mma there is no such thing as a fluke. Fighters throw punches with the intention to land and hurt. Jds may not only have the best hangs in heavyweight but in the UFC. And as far as the Nelson fight I don’t think Jesus could knock him out. That dude doesn’t quit. I’m not counting Cain out but jds is for real and his record shows it

      • Marc says:

I don’t argue with this guys because it’s a waste of time. I’m just waiting for the fight to happen, and then when cain get KTFO AGAIN they will go away. One need to be very very (very) stupid to think JDS ko was a “fluke”, or I’m wrong and JDS isn’t known by his boxing skills.

        • Mat says:

          You’ll see…

        • Not You says:

I’m not going anywhere buddy. Don’t be mad that I can make an unbiased an informed opinion.

        • ZONG says:

U guys crack me up with this “unbiased opinion” comeback. Im rubber ur glue status.

        • Not You says:

It’s a fact. I’m not sitting here saying Cain is going to destroy JDS and I’m not saying that JDS is going to destroy Cain. I’m saying what Cain COULD do to win the fight. JDS does throw wide shots and he fades as the fight goes on. Those are his big weaknesses in the rematch with Cain. JDS could very well knock Cain out in 2 minutes again. I’m not going to call it flat out though.

  4. a person says:

JDS does have a knock out power but Cain is faster and more well rounded, if the fight were to go more than 2 rounds then Cain will be winning because his cardio is amazing, this guy never gets tired or slow down his pace

  5. Nuthugger says:

It’s not often you see JDS on the ground. But, when he did hit the ground with Carwin, had the fight been 20 seconds longer, I think JDS would have been asleep. He was in a tight lock. If Cain gets him down, he won’t be a good enough, simple as that. As nice a man JDS is, he seems to be slightly cocky on this, which could be a big mistake. Although the first fight was quick and somewhat disappointingly short, this fight is the first one for some time that has got me excited with anticipation of a thriller.

  6. yourallsoblind says:

EVERY ONE HERE LISEN UP…U ALL ARE SAYING THE SAME SH*T, CAIN TRAIN WAS DERAILED LAST NOVEMBER….JDS WAS FASTER IN EVERY EXCHANGE IN THE FIRST FIGHT, WAY BETTER FOOT WORK…CAIN IS FAST IN THE POCKET NOT WHEN IT COMES TO LATERAL MOVEMENT AND WHEN HE GOT CAUGHT ITS CAUSE HE DIDNT KEEP HIS HANDS HIGH….THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HIS SPEED OR HIS TAKEDOWNS….JDS WILL WIN…AND WHO EVER MADE THE NELSON COMMENT NELSON HAS ONLY BEEN TKO 1NCE AND HE WASNT EVENT OUT…AND CAIN HAS BEEN DROPPED 3 times (TWICE BY CHEICK KONGO) EVEN DOE HE DIDNT WIN AND JDS CAUGHT WITH THE INSIDE LEFT HOOK THAT STAGGERED CAIN AND WHEN HE THREW THE OVERHAND CAIN SHOWED HIS EQULLIBRIUM AND CHIN CANNOT HANDLE LARGE SHOTS……..CARWIN COULDNT K,O JDS OR MIR….SO WHAT CHANCE DOES CAIN HAVE> WHO CARES HOW FAST HE IS….HE ISNT GOIN TO STAND WITH JUNIOR SO SPEED WILL NOT MEAN ANYTHING

    • santos says:

1st off the blow Cain got hit with was illegal. 2nd Cain has the hardest recorded punch of any fighter in UFC history. yes it was tested. fight science. your welcome….. so you don’t know as much as you would like us to believe.

      • USoFullOFit says:

        Really? Maybe,maybe not.
Anybody can say anything so what proof do you have? Links? What?

      • ZONG says:

WASNT ILLEGAL FOR FUX SAKE! BEHIND THE EAR ISNT ILLEGAL! HE THREW A HOOK VS A MAN STANDIN RITE IN FRONT OF HIM FACE TO FACE AND LANDED BEHIND THE EAR NOT THE BACK OF HIS HEAD!! COMPLETLY LEGAL!!! And why in the fuk is urybody sayin Cain is faster?? wtf is the matter with u biased ppl??

      • Xaninho says:

Illegal? I didn’t need to read the rest of your comment after that display of ignorance. You know nothing about this subject.

    • Not You says:

You’ll see. Cain is FASTER than JDS in ALL areas. He was coming off a long lay off from a rotator cuff injury and still had other nagging injuries during the JDS fight. JDS wings punches, very unruly for someone with that much power in his hands. Cain can win this fight easily, JDS wastes his stamina trying to finish, Cain has endless cardio and technical striking. Let’s not even get started with his ground game.

      • ZONG says:

dude, im still tryin to figure out why u think cain is “faster than JDS in ALL areas”. like jds walks around the cage like tank abbot or sumthin. UR CRAZY jds is just as quick IF NOT QUICKER than cains handspeed, footwork, reflexes, etc. Not to mention MORE POWER in his mitts(but just by a lil). go ahead educate me I DARE YOU

        • Not You says:

Cain throws fast, technically sound strike. JDS throws fast strikes, but they come from out wide. Obviously a straight line is the fastest path to your target. Do I still need to educate you?

  7. Nuthugger says:

^^You are obviously correct and everyone else is wrong, you type in UPPERCASE, which is a sign of such a superior knowledge.

  8. Dick Diaz says:

lmao isn’t that going to be the truth.

  9. Big Show says:

Cain Lovers you are so wrong and blind, don´t forget that JDS whas injured too before the first fight, he KO Cain that time and he will do it again, he is got faster and heavys hands. enough to send to sleep anyone on the division. Cain most drop to 205 and face Bones, that fight makes more sense… while JDS stays in the division, Cain has no chance to beat get the belt, at least that Overeem KO JDS but I don´t see it.

  10. coolguy says:

JDS rd 1 K0, if you think otherwsie you dont know shit about fighting

  11. :O says:

Jds definitely has faster better hands this is gonna be like the first fight which JDS was also injured for also that shot wasn’t illegal at all Cain just got laid out

  12. 123 says:

    best fight ever, cant wait

  13. Ghost of evan tanner says:

JDS is gonna leave cain a crumbled pile of broken nachos.uppercut!

  14. Mars the Avenger says:

I hear a lot of bitching about saying JDS RD1 but those same people are the ones making excuses for Cain. A fight is a fight, what happens, happens. There are no flukes. Fighting is a calculated risk, especially against someone with incredible knockout power. The only mistake is a miscalculation or done by bad judging. Cain miscalculated, JDS capitalized. This fight will be another great one, I got JDS RD 2-3. I don’t think Cain will miscalculate as bad but I do believe he won’t come out with his hand raised.

    • BJ is KING says:

well said, I agree, something tells me that JDS has got the mental edge over him too, he will win this. As much as I like Cain I don’t think he will win, not saying hes got no chance.

  15. Yeah Right says:

To everyone saying Cain was injured. If I recall JDS was injured and not 100% as well. JDS will retain his belt.

  16. I'M ONLY KINDA AWESOME says:

lol JDS is baiting Cain into standing with him, calling him out and talking shit.

  17. Xaninho says:

Cain looked fine to me. He was targetting JDS’ bum knee with low kicks several times, he knew JDS had a torn meniscus. People saying Cain is faster don’t understand just how good and incredibly fast JDS’ footwork is. In my opinion JDS is the lightest on his feet out of all the HW’s.

  18. maurice says:

lol at the ppl saying cain will win, and cain is “faster.” did anyone not watch the first fight. jds proved in the 1st fight that he is faster, a better boxer and far better footwork. when cain isnt in attack mode, he is pretty damn stationary. he doesnt utilize footwork like jds to set up angles, he just stands in front of his target and attempts to catch them with his superior hand speed in exchanges, but that wont work against jds. in the 1st fight cain answered everything jds went for with either a jab or left hook. jds realized right away that cain was actually trying to time him with the left hook, so jds feints a jab and destroys him with an overhand right. i already knew jds was teh best hw ive ever seen, but that fight made me realize just how far ahead he really is in the stand up then the rest of the hw. cain also had a suspect chin sense almost getting ko’ed 3 times by kongo. hell, frank mir took more shots from jds then cain could. which is fucking terrible.

fact is, if your fighting jds you either better have better stand up then him, or one hell of a chin to atleast last a while and hope for him to tire. i refuse to believe cain can go into the jds fight and avoid every punch and keep it exclusively a ground fight. jds takedown defense + footwork + best boxing mechanics and handspeed at hw = another first round ko win over mr. velasquez.

for wat its worth, i hope cain does get a takedown on jds, just so i can see cain shit himself when jds decides to stand back up and beats the hell out of him some more. i doubt cain coult beat carwin or werdum. cain doenst even have the size to atleast pin jds against the cage to work for takedowns, instead he has to shoot on jds in the open, where jds will gladly meet him with punches and knees. more then likely an uppercut tho…

    • Sean says:

I agree with Maurice 100%. JDS does have better hands than Cain. I think JDS has the best hands in all of MMA. People seem to forget the first fight, or suggest that it was a fluke. JDS through a perfect overhand right to make it a short night for Cain. As stated earlier, Cain was targeting the torn meniscus in JDS’ knee. Also, he did attempt a takedown and junior was able to defend it, even with his bum knee. Cain is an incredible wrestler, he is a national champion in wrestling. That should tell you something about JDS’ takedown defense. People say Cain didn’t shoot on him enough but the fight was only 64 seconds. If someone averaged a takedown every 64 seconds in a 5-round fight, that would add up quickly. Shane Carwin is also a national wrestling champion, but he could not pin JDS down and pound him out. JDS is simply a bad matchup for Cain.

      • Sean says:

Junior has extremely powerful and accurate hands. Junior’s better chin + great takedown defense + superior hands divided by Cain’s weak chin + inferior boxing + inability to hold Junior down = another loss for Cain Velasquez. Junior is also a brown belt in jui jitsu. If Cain is able to take him down, it will not be a walk in the park for him. I am not saying Cain can’t win this fight. Everyone has a puncher’s chance (except maybe Forrest Griffin and Mayem Miller), but it is highly unlikely that Cain will win. The first fight was not a fluke. The better people are, the “luckier” they get and more “flukes” occur.

  19. Chit Rodriguez says:

Brown Pride is the huge shit I just took.
