More like 1st match was strike one, 2nd match was a foul tip for strike 2 and the main event was the big whif for strike 3. You’re out!
I agree. Definately not a homerun.
Is this a joke? It’s not like I”m going to stop watching UFC events, but this was easily one of their worst events. I mean, some fights are boring, plain and simple, but this wasn’t anywhere near most events. Three decisions in a row is never good.
The prelims were intense though… All the fights can’t be winners. Plus, if you didn’t expect the Sonnen fight to go to decision, then you are retarded.
ufc should remember never to put a combo of either rashad, sonnen, gsp, fitch, or phil davis on a single card or fans will go to sleep and ratings will suck. hope they learned their lesson from last week.
Can we get a third option in these polls? The show wasn’t hot or cold it was warm and the weakest fight was Maia’s fight.
UFC can’t do anything about fighter performance, but what bugged me more than fights that were decent was all the commercials, commentary and video montages. I understand the Fox events are more about introducting newer fans, but jeez how are fans supposed to get excited and want to keep watching with all the slow parts in between the fights! UFC sure isn’t going to convince new viewers that PPVs are worth the price!
Weidman’s lackluster performance might tell the UFC that short notice fights are not the way to go and maybe cancelling a fight or replacing a fight might be a better option. I know we can’t always have a Leben/Akiyama or Brenneman/Story result, but it was risky to do it on this Fox card with a new audience they were trying to win over.
This is the dumbest poll I’ve ever seen. I mean they stacked the card. The guys battled and went the distance. I mean no they didn’t hit a homerun.. but how are you going to say the fights could have been better implying that they could have made different match-ups? Who cares what the new audience thinks. They will always have the true MMA fans and of course the fan base will grow eventually with fox or not. I think the fox deal is just a better way for the true fans anyways. They are making this into a big thing on how they are trying to get new fans when really it doesn’t matter. If someone hasn’t ever heard of the UFC, I think that’s crazy. They might not know what MMA is, but they know what the UFC is.
Name one business in the world that doesn’t care about expanding or gaining new customers. The whole purpose of the deal with Fox was to broaden the UFC’s fan base, grow the brand, and increase revenue. You can’t accomplish any of those if new fans aren’t tuning in and being entertained. Put yourself in the shoes of someone who has never seen MMA and imagine Maia vs. Weidman being your first exposure to the sport. Chances are you’re going to think “this is boring”, change channels, and not go out of your way to watch another UFC event again. “Not caring what the new fans think” is a completely backwards way to think of the future of MMA. Can casual fans be annoying? Hell yeah – but as that casual fan base grows and those people get more familiar with what’s going on, it can only help the future of the sport. Hopefully more marquee promotions will arise over the coming years and the ensuing competition for that large fan base will push the sport to the next level.
don’t know what the UFC were thinking when they decided to make Rashad vs Davis the Main event. Everyone knew that was going to be a snooze fest.
shit you guys should hear the chicago fans though. Im from illinois and im actually ashamed to be apart of it now. They would boo in the prelims if a guy even decided to clinch for 2 seconds. For the record yes this event sucked ass but the pre lims were awesome!
i noticed the booing too. very uneducated. they should have showed the oliveira sub and the johsnon or swanson KO on the FOX broadcast, with all that talking they were doing they could have slid that in.
The only decent fight was Bisping vs Sonnen… I kind of liked watching Chael get punched in the face but I didn’t like the decision… Bisping was ROBBED!
no he wasnt…he lost…he got mounted and had his back taken, and chael ate his punches and was persistent on the 1-2 combo then takedown, BOOM
thats what im talkin about donny bisping OWNED CHAEL hahahaha, if anderson had a fight that close and given the decision could u imagine the craziness these chaell nut suckers would be spewing? chael sucks and hes gonna suck even harder in brazil.
fights sucked. never put any of these guys on a main event unless u wanna be bored to death.http://lh6.ggpht.com/_1cieNo_5Ew8/TLtvMnW4XXI/AAAAAAAAAHg/klq75jhNumQ/s640/ufcdeccision.jpg
LMAO
thats awesome
I’d be lying if I said that this was the type of card that will pull in new MMA fans. Sat through the whole thing, but definitely found myself nodding off from time to time, and was seriously bored with the lack of any serious action
It could have been a homerun with the right matchups. When you put dominant strong wrestlers in every match up, it’s gonna slow the fight down. There are some wrestlers that you know will always dictate the style of the fight against most opponents. The majority probably like seeing a dynamic fighter that ends fights, and many people don’t like all the holding that goes on when certain wrestlers fight. I’m not saying all wrestlers are like that. Exceptions are Jon Bones Jones and some other wrestlers that are exciting to watch because they can finish quickly at any moment.
wasn’t the best card ever but it wasn’t bad and guess what else it was free people you cats come on here with the lamest opion ever just like this lame poll I was on here on day and the poll was should Gill Melendez be in the ufc and some people said no lol so the polls are strictly for haters I guess all of you ufc haters wish bellator got on fox right that would of been so much better right lol get the **** out of here
They should of put the UFC RIO 2 card on FOX that would of brought in some fans for sure
there’s a reason gsp does great with ppv’s. its because real mma fans enjoy watching the most well-rounded mixed martial artist on the planet.
real mma fans? so brock attracted real mma fans? i mean he must have cuz he always kicked gsps ass when it came to ppv sales. u know why gsp sells so much ppvs? cuz homos buy his ppvs cuz he looks like van damme.
umad that BJ got blown away by GSP and diaz?
mad? naw gsp fights like a bitch thats what im mad about. nick diaz fought toe to toe and deserves his props. gsp doesnt fight his opponents he hugs them and runs the clock out. two totally different guys. umad cuz u have to keep hopping on gsps **** every time someone says the truth about him?
yes mmaisland is very mad and still very bitter about what gsp did to bj. he says he gives nick diaz props but all he did was fight bj to a decision.
gsp FINISHED his ass.
