Dennis Siver Positive For Banned Substance In Fight Against Manny Gamburyan

Dennis Siver has tested positive for banned substances, following his victory over Manny Gamburyan at UFC 168, back in December. Siver tested positive for human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), a hormone that naturally appears in the human body. However, it has also been linked with the use of steroids and therefor on the list of banned substances, according the Nevada State Athletics commission.

Steven Marrocco of MMAJunkie hit Twitter with the scoop:

UFC 168’s Dennis Siver has been flagged for hCG, NSAC in process of issuing temp suspension pending hearing.

Siver’s exact levels were not released. However, it is fair to assume that he will most likely be served with a suspension by the Nevada State Athletics Commission. Along with a suspension will come the usual fine, and possibly worse; Siver’s victory over Gamburyan may very well become a no contest.

All other fighters on the UFC 168 card came back negative for use of any performance enhancing drugs or any other illegal substances. UFC 168 took place in Las Vegas, Nevada at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, in which the NSAC oversaw the event.

After his victory over Gamburyan, Siver made comments about making a run at the title, but with this bump in the road, it may take him more time than originally anticipated.
