Daytona 500 Champ Earnhardt Jr. Offers Driving Tips to UFC Fighter Tabbed to Drive Phoenix Pace Car

With UFC fan favorite Chael Sonnen driving the pace car this weekend at Phoenix International Raceway, two-time Daytona 500 winner Dale Earnhardt Jr. offered driving tips to the light heavyweight during a Wednesday night visit to UFC TONIGHT on FOX Sports 1: “You’ll be fine. You’re going to go about 60 miles an hour, there’s two walls, just stay in the middle.”

Fresh off the Daytona season opener, the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series heads to Phoenix for the season’s second race, live on FOX on Sunday, March 2 (3:00 PM ET) with pre-race coverage beginning at 2:30 PM ET.

FOX Sports 1’s NASCAR RACEDAY (1:30 PM ET) kicks off Sunday’s coverage, immediately followed by network pre-race coverage on FOX NASCAR SUNDAY (2:30 PM ET). FOX Deportes telecasts the race live beginning at 3 p.m. ET, while FOX Sports GO, the app that provides live streaming video of FOX Sports content, offers live streaming of the race, as well as all practice and qualifying sessions telecast on FOX Sports 1. Customers of participating video providers may access the live streams of the race through the FOX Sports GO app for iOS devices, as well as on desktops through FOXSportsGO.com.

Below are additional quotes from Earnhardt’s appearance on UFC Tonight:

Earnhardt on if he’s into training MMA like his nephew Jeffrey Earnhardt:
“I had a boxing ring for years. And me and my buddies would get in there. We would get in there to go at it for 10 rounds. My cousin wanted to get in better shape and went to train with some guys who were doing it. He did so well, they put him in a fight and he won.”

Earnhardt Jr. on who he’d like to fight in NASCAR:
“I’d like to go against my friends. Martin Truex Jr. Maybe Jimmie (Johnson). That’d be fun to see who would win.”
