Dana White: Winner of Henderson-Machida fight gets next shot at Jon Jones | UFC NEWS

UFC President Dana White announced today that the winner of the Light Heavyweight fight between Dan Henderson and Lyoto Machida at UFC 157 will get the next title shot at Jon Jones. This is backtracking from his earlier statement that Alexander Gustafsson would be next in line.
While in London last week, White announced that if Gustafsson was successful against Gegard Mousasi at UFC on FUEL 9 he would fight Jones for the title. Obviously he had a change of heart. Which seems logical considering that Henderson and Machida are ranked #1 and #2 in the recent UFC fighter rankings, Gustafsson is currently ranked 3rd.
This has to make Henderson very happy, considering he had a title shot lined up against Jones at UFC 151. An injury caused him to pull out of the fight, and eventually caused the entire card to be cancelled. Henderson showed his inner pyschic when he recently said this to BleacherReport .com about being passed over, “I’m not going to worry about it because who knows what’s going to happen. Dana does like to change his mind a little bit so it is what it is.”
White does like to change his mind, and in this case it seemed it was warranted. Having the top two ranked Light Heavyweights fight and not give the winner the title shot may have been a little too extreme even for Dana White.

He says Gus will get the shot, over and over and over. this ****in lying piece of shit
That’s true I remember seeing a article where Dana said if Gustafson won he was fighting jones? I guess whoever wins more impressively?
i’ve heard this song before…these days, you gotta take whatever dana says with a grain of salt.
It’s more likely who ever wins impressively or infact who crys and complains more about the title like chael did for the silva fight
Bellators fights have been worth watching and rather entertaining. Last nights show had some brutal TKO’s with all the fights but the title fight ending in the first round. The tournament style competition creates actual number one contenders for the title matches. UFC and the create-a-contender shinanigans has some god competition with this new promotion. And with Good ole uncle Dana building up names and cutting them gives this organization prospects for the future. (Unless Dana attempts to buy out Bellator as well)
