Dana White: Velasquez Vs. JDS III A No-Brainer

Following a dominant performance by UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez over Antonio Silva, and Junior dos Santos knocking out a man with an iron chin in Mark Hunt, the match-up to be is obvious. Dana White agrees whole-heartedly, White told the media at the UFC 160 post-fight press conference, “No-brainer. If there was ever a trilogy, that’s it right there. If you look at the way that both fights went: Junior destroys him (Cain) in the first fight, Cain destroys Junior in the second fight. I cant wait to see the third fight.”

White continued, “They both looked awesome tonight, they are the two best heavyweights int he world.” When the media hinted at the possibility of the Velasquez vs Dos Santos III being the main event at UFC on Fox Sports 1 in Boston this August, White replied, “I don’t know what we are going to do. We have probably four or five options right now, so we’ll see.” Junior was next with the microphone and told reporters, “My next fight, if thats going to be for the title, thats what I want. I believe so much that I can stay on top on this division for a long time.”

In response to the fight announcement, the champ Cain Velasquez agreed that the trilogy fight was a must. Cain simply said, “That fight makes sense so definitely.” What does Penn Nation think? WHo takes the trilogy match between these two juggernauts? Does Cain dominant “Cigano” again? Or does Junior land one of his signature right hand’s again for the KO?

  1. Cigano's spinning back kick impressive says:

but it was against a slow and very tired Mark Hunt. The mistake Struve made was that he thought he could stay in the pocket with Hunt. Obviously, he was wrong. JDS did the right thing: stay out of the pocket and strike with his speed. JDS won’t be able to do that against Cain, though. Cain has cardio for days, is fast, and has a ground game that is on par if not better than his stand up.
Cain will have to get “caught” again in order to lose against JDS for a second time.
Don’t see that happening (although it is possible.

  2. KIDD433 says:

Wasn’t a spinning back kick.It was a spinning heel kick. And yes a rematch is well warranted.

  3. Jake from State Farm says:

I honestly think the heavy weight decision is bullshit there’s no fighters that can challenge Cain and jds. Least stacked devision IMO . In any other weight class u don’t just lose your title horrible getting dominated every single round and win one fight and get your title shot again. You gotta work your way back up to get your gold. There’s no one in the heavy weight devision who can challenge these two. Except maybe Roy or verdum but they’ve proved they don’t have what it takes to fight with the top dogs.

  4. god idiots says:

okay technically, jds getting dominated for 5 rounds doesnt mean as much as everyone thinks because normally when cain lands that right hand bomb, the person is knocked out. so that fight should of been over after the first round just like when they first met and jds knocked him out. the difference is, jds had a very good chin that fight and was tough to take out. both these fighters are the best and anything can happen with these two IMO. wouldnt bet on this fight, way too close.

  5. 123 says:

The Heavyweight division will be amazing when Jon Jones moves up & fights the likes of Cain Velasquez & Junior Dos Santos.

  6. DREW says:

    CAIN is unstoppable

  7. Ddddddd says:

I hope Jr nukes him again but this time in Mexico like Cain wants. If Jr does win I hope he defends the belt in Vegas.
Jrs more proud of America than Cain. Cain had such an easy climb up the ranks it’s hard for me to stand behind him.

  8. KIDD433 says:

jones should move up to HW.HW is in need of talent at the moment.sick of seeing Jones fight guys half his size at 205.Bigger guy beating smaller guys=not impressive.

  9. Dddddd says:

Why do you want to see Anderson beat up on little Gorgeous
    then?
