“The fight sucked. I don’t know how to expand on it anymore. I don’t think that was a split decision at all. I think Gray Maynard won that fight easily. Nobody can win or lose a fight when the guy is running around in circles. He was literally running.”
UFC president Dana White discussed last nights main event at the UFC on FX 4 post-fight press conference and he was not happy with it.
For the better part of 5 rounds Clay Guida used a fast paced circling gameplan to keep Maynard off him and it made for a very lackluster main event that sent the crowd in attendance on fire with boo’s.

It was great footwork. He created good angles and made Grey miss, BUT he didn’t do anything with the movement. He just danced and jabbed. When Grey gave him his chin and Guide didn’t step in and knock him out,,,, now that was enough to lose…

I’m not really a fan of either fighter I just think the fight was a little closer than people are saying. Fight metric said 49 to 45 so i was wrong thinking that guida landed more significant strikes but still pretty even.

Clay Guida USED to be pretty tough. Everyone get’s scared, but not everyone is a fighter. That was bitch shit on his part. Pussyfooting is more what you were looking for. The reason Dana didn’t yell at Condit is because he hates Diaz just like he use to hate Tito. What’s ok for Condit is not ok for Clay. Although IMO they both lost bigtime and should be disgraced at their performances. If UFC or MMA continues down this bullshit “track meet” style of pointfighting the fans will go away in droves that is why Dana is pissed. Greg Jackson is ruining MMA worse than Jon “lay n pray” Fitch. yea guida did land strikes and it was a close fight. but he ran and all his strikes aside from the 5th round headkick, had nothing behind them. EVERYTIME gray landed a punch, guida would kick his running into high gear. its safe to say..guida and starnes both shit there pants in front of there enemy in the cage. diaz vs condit doesnt compare to that disturbing performance from guida.

theres one thing being good at wrestling and i agree it is probably one of the most important aspects of the sport but you should be doing something with it, not just laying on someone untill they are so exhausted that they cant push you off and yet you still dont capitalise and finish the tired opponent

Fitch had 30lbs on BJ at fight time and still lost 2 rounds. Fitch lost when he fought anyone his own size earlier in his career. Being the beszt weight cutter in MMA doesn’t mean he is a great fighter. If UFC implemented next day weigh ins Fitch would lose every fight

I enjoyed that fight but-I have never felt frustrated like that before during a fight. I liked Guida’s full “full body dry heave” type gameplan. But I was frustrated because I think he could have used those angles to plant leather on Maynards face and I bet he could have gotten a TKO at some point. If Pillow hands Edgar can TKO Maynard so can Guida. That is the frustrating part. He could have landed enough to get a TKO I think.
I know I know… Gray let him have three free hits to the face and he could not even daze him, but I think Guida could have done that about 100 times during that fight but did not pull the trigger.
But I still enjoyed it. Gray has some balls to let somebody hit him in the face and give them a TD like he did.

It was not a close fight dummy, the judges score very simple,aggression and octagon control are added to the striking,maybe they landed same amount of punches,but running like a bitch will not make you any points,that was little be more boring than two wrestlers,what ****ing part of contact sport you and all Jackson fighters don’t understand?

Condit plays in the Off Season. Look at how he’s running from everyone in the Welterweight division right now by waiting for GSP. Waiting a couple months is one thing, but what he’s doing now is money grubbing and a disgrace to the sport. Now I know I will get flamed for saying it, but that’s what Frankie does… dance, run and jab… and run some more. Just remember that Edgar is a small fighter compared to those big guys, and if you knew anything about boxing, you would understand that Edgar uses a method where he gets inside and attacks and steps out. He always out strikes his opponents and messes up their faces. Bj lost both times, because he was out boxed, and that is what Edgar can do!
I think fighters need to remember that putting on entertaining fights is important, I mean although mma is a sport and to win is first and foremost at the end of the day it is entertainment and if the UFC wants us to front up hard earned cash for pay per views then the less fights like this or the Fitch style lay n pray fights the better. Unfortunatley the Jackson game plans will win fighters the decision 90% of the time just as lying on top of a guy will do.
I don’t fully believe it’s all Jackson’s fault, I mean fighters should be able to use the technique of counter punching and slipping punches better. Guida just screwed up by not doing it effectively, and taking the running away to far. He had good footwork and a good game plan, he just didn’t follow up on it. He should have countered and kicked the legs more. I still enjoyed the fight, watching Guida use new technique and Maynard attack like a beat, I just wish Guida wasn’t out struck by 10% and used his skills a bit better.
