Dana White Responds To Mayweather Camp | You Shut The Fu** Up!
If you have somehow been under a rock and missed the biggest bit of controversy coming out of the last two days then allow me to update you.
First Floyd Mayweather came out with some racial comments towards Asians. (See them here)
Then Dana White came out and blasted Floyd for being a racist (See it here)
And earlier today we featured a response from Mayweather’s manager which can be found HERE.
Who knows if this brewing feud will escalate beyond this brief two day back and forth, but Dana White was not content in letting the Mayweather camp have the last word. Which is why he sent a text to Yahoo Sports stating the following…
“Just for the record, shut the f— up I wasn’t talking to you. I was talking to Floyd. We’re doing something amazing. We’re building a sport while you guys are destroying one.”

Boxing’s Marquess of Queensberry rules, under which the sport has since been governed, were published in 1867, although the sport was around long before this, we can use this as a starting point since before that it becomes very hard to find much in the way of solid concrete facts
In 1882, 15 years later HW champ “John Sullivan” fought Paddy Ryan and earned $5,000, ..
28.9 times the national average wage…. he also had to put up $2,500 for the fight, winner take all, his opponent HW Champ at the time LOST 28.9 times the national average income that night!!
UFC 1 was in 1993, MMA’s unified rules were published in 2000
In 2010, only 17 yrs after UFC 1 and 10 years after Unified Rules in place (close enough to split the difference):
UFC HW champ Brock Lesnar fought twice earning (with sponsorships) $5.3 million, which between his 2 fights is 63.5 times the national average income per fight
avg annual income- (varies a bit depending on source)
1880s- $345
2011- $41,673
Sullivan surely made other money as well, and either sport’s true inception can be debated, but it seems MMA is doing ok at the upper level pay scale for a relatively new sport. If you were to compare Boxing at well over 150 years into its existence, it seems silly to put that against a sport that is less than 20 years old, give or take.

This coming from a guy using wikipedia!!! If you look at the basic pay of MMA fighters in comparison to boxers you will find that for the punishment and risk that MMa fighters take, they are being underpaid. Do not included sponsorships as boxers make more in this department as well. The point that people should be looking at is the fact that the Asian market is a huge and profitable market that all sports are trying to cash in on, so it would make marketing sense to focus on “home grown talent” from the area to promote that particular sport. Being that mayweather tries to portrays himself as a intelligent businessmen I would have thought he knew that, but judging from his comments it shows his stupidity and ignorance.

Wow, i’m not sure where to start? umm boxing is boring yes. i agree. But boxing is a science, it’s an art, its 1000 times more refined than MMA will ever be likely. I learned to box when i was 10, fun but too technical to make a career with. Learned Muay Thai from a guy names Alex Gong in San Fransisco, loved it, went to thai land made a career of it for awhile. then MMA came along in 2000(more mainstream-ish in Japan) and i turned to that for fun, love it more than Boxing and Muay thai. BUT boxing is definitly not boring if you appreciate great boxing, which many people still do.
Secondly, “put someone in a triangle becuz they leave their arm in like a dummy”….clearly you are a merely a fan becuz you can set up a triangle from half guard, which is tuff as hell, but is just an example of how “leving your arm in” has absolutely nothing to do with gettting submitted! NOTHING! you can slap on a triangle while someone is hitting you in the face if your fast enuff, again….nothing to do with them “leaving their arm in like a dummy” clearly i’m just pointing out how ignorant you sound.
Finally, “who are smart about finishing fights”………quick math i JUST did from the past 10 MMA cards: out of 104 fights, 57 went decision, that’s a 54% Decision count. more than half. so i’m a sucker for a submission of KO any day but like boxing, Many fighters are starting to look for Wins more than Submission and KO’s.
p.s. Dana used to be a boxing promoter, a damn good one too, he’s still a huge boxing fan, he just prefers MMA but i saw him at a small boxing show in SD a few years back, no nothing small time pro boxers never fought on TV and Dana was there to watch, for pleasure. Dont take what Maywether says as a direct quote from all of boxing, Maywether and pacquaio are all thats left on boxing, let them go out in peace, they’ve both had the most entertaining boxing careers that boxing has had in the past 30 years.

I just need to say I like UFC and Strikeforce but I’m so sick of Dana White. In boxing there is no one person calling all the shots. He acts like the godfather, really tired of it. They are two different things, so it wont be exact, but the UFC ain’t doing all that bad or paying out all that bad for a growing sport. Sullivan surely made other money, but no records I know of exist, or not that I’m going to waste time finding. The UFC takes money and puts it back into the growth of it’s product. Seems like a decent plan for the long term success of a business.
