Dana White Puzzled Over Cyborg’s Move To Invicta | UFC NEWS

Over the weekend Dana White confirmed his knowledge of Former Women’s StrikeForce Featherweight Champion, Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos, signing with Invicta Fighting Championship. An all women’s organization in which Santos could find an opponent at 145 lbs. The confusion comes into play after Santos signed with Invicta, not because she is going to be fighting with the organization, but because the UFC was going to have her fight for the organization while still employing her as a UFC fighter. She would have had a UFC contract, she would have been privileged benefits as other UFC fighters, and she would have had the greatest MMA organization in the world at her back, as stated by UFC President Dana White:

“We were going to sign her to a contract and then we were going to have her fight in Invicta, which means we’d pay all the bills for her to fight in Invicta. She’d be under a UFC contract with all the perks and benefits of being a UFC fighter, and would fight in Invicta. So instead of doing that, they chose to not do that and fight in Invicta. If you can make logic out of that whole f****** situation, you’re a better man than I”

By doing this some believe Cyborg and her current manager Tito Ortiz could potentially be doing more harm to her career than help. Why would one want to be let go of a UFC contract to only to go and do what the UFC had planned in the first place. Santos had all the potential to be the face of a possible UFC Women’s Featherweight Division, but instead shes cut all ties with the UFC, and may have burned the biggest bridge in her career. She has made it very clear she isn’t interested in making 135, and she’s trying now to make it clear that she doesn’t need the UFC.

  1. Why??? says:

…. I don’t know, maybe because you were forcing her to make 135 lbs?

    • Sasquatch says:

And the fact that he publicly came out and said that she was affraid to fight Ronda and was running from her may have pissed her off a bit too. It’s good to see people taking a stand against that bald bully.. good for her!

  2. Mayor of Deviance says:

She would have been fighting in Invicta with all the UFC insurance and everything, as well as leaving the door open if the UFC did make a 145lbs division. Cutting ties like that must have purely been an emotional decision out of spite.

  3. Mc mc says:

Because UFC pays fighters like crap. She will headline with an invicta contract and make 6 figures+ on the fight. That’s my guess.
