Dana White: No Regrets Signing Hector Lombard | UFC NEWS
UFC middleweight fighter Hector Lombard was one of the most sought after fighters in the world.
After being crowned the Bellator champion he walked into the Octagon riding a 26-fight unbeaten streak and world of fans on his shoulders. He was supposed to be “the next big thing”.
UFC officials gave the stand-out an unmatched signing bonus and fighter salary that was worth a small fortune, but this investment hasn’t paid off in the cage.
UFC President Dana White took to the UFC 158 post-fight press conference and said he has no regrets signing Lombard:
“No, you can’t ever look at a guy as a mistake,” said White at the 158 post-fight press conference. “If a guy gets to a certain level, you bring him in.
“It’s like when people try to compare these other shows to the UFC. You might be great in all these other shows, but when you fight here, you never know how great or not great a guy is going to be.”

Why the discussion? Lombard is morally on a 3-0 winstreak. If it wasn’t for jackass judges who don’t know anything about scoring fights he would have 3-0 in the UFC behind his name.
That fight against Boetsch was not a great fight but he should have gotten the win. The fight against Okami was another bullshit controversial split decision loss.
I agree Lombard should for sure at least be 2-1 as the Boesch decision was highway robbery. OKami is a huge MW and was able to blanket and wall n stall and Fitch Lombard to a decision. Okami is almost as miserbly boring to watch as Fitch.

The UFC is a completely different animal…look at all the pride superstars that come over and get their asses handed to them?
Huge contracts should be earned based on UFC performance, not wasted potential…just my thoughts….if you tear ass through the ufc ranks, a huge paycheck is warrented.
All of the Pride superstars did not get their asses handed to them when they got to the UFC. Some did and some didn’t, Quinton Jackson tore ass through the LHW division when he came over, Minotauro came over and won the interim HW title, Shogun had some conditioning issues to attend to but ended up beating the undefeated Lyoto Machida (arguably twice) for the LHW title. There were great fighters in both organizations.

Back when pride was around pride has the better fighters and fights..
