Dana White: Miesha Tate and Ronda Rousey ‘hate each other’
Since “The Ultimate Fighter” features both men and women this coming season, it is expected that there will be a lot of drama between the contestants. According to Ultimate Fighting Championship president Dana White, UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey and Miesha Tate are causing majority of the madness this season.
“Miesha and Ronda hate each other,” White said following a media event for Saturday’s UFC 161 media scrum, as reported on MMAJunkie.com. “It’s literally crazy drama every day. It’s irritating.”
Cat Zingano, who was originally supposed to coach “TUF 18,” suffered a knee injury that required surgery and rehab. Drama was expected when Tate stepped in as a replacement.
Bitterness between Rousey (7-0) and Tate (13-4) began when they first met in a title fight at Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey in March 2012. Rousey submitted Tate with her arm bar in the first round. Apparently, they still have bad blood after they tried to settle their differences in the cage.
White compared Rousey and Tate’s rivalry to TUF 3, which featured Tito Ortiz and Ken Shamrock.
“It’s Ken-Tito type stuff,” White said. “I don’t even know if some of the stuff will make TV. Those two do not like each other, and their camps do not like each other. And it’s just pure [expletive] mayhem every day.”
“TUF 18″ premieres Sept. 4 on FOX Sports 1.
