Dana White Gives His Take On A Fighters Union | UFC NEWS
“I doubt it. The thing about fighting is, fighting is not a team sport, it’s an individual sport. It’s going to be tough to see a day with Silva or GSP is giving up big chunks of their money to guys who won’t make two fights in the UFC. Different sports. But if it happens, it happens. I have to negotiate with somebody on the fight contracts.”

Mma will never be legit without a union IMO. The guys on the undercard are getting ****ed, same with the guys stuck on the fx and fox cards. Excluding the big names obviously
If you consider getting payed more then an average persons 4 months wage for one fight getting ****ed.. Then yes?
The money some of the lower ranked fighters make is outrageous, especially on the under cards. The UFC is exploiting the majority of fighters except the top guys who make crazy money from ppv revenues. Some of the lower guys are making $5-6k total, no bonuses and maybe getting to fight 2-3 times a year….You think that’s enough to pay for training, food, digs? raise a family. That’s less that minimum wage!
To say it’ll never be legit without a union makes zero sense considering that MMAis already legit & on the same network as the friggin Super Bowl. It’s already mainstream and legit…with plenty of room for growth. Fighters can unionize or not and it has nothing to do with MMA being a legit sport
The biggest issue in the future will be the best training with the best as they rise through to ranks and not want to fight eachother. IMO. A union would be interesting.
A union would ruin mma if people don’t like the money they make get better and finish fights if u can’t you have none else to blame besides your self
Damn!
Unions are for losers who can’t make it on their own skills and work ethic… Completely opposite of the will and drive it takes to succeed in Mma. Should never happen.
I’ve see it way too many times on the TUF series where a fighter is like “I need this for my kids.” Piece of advice to a low ranked fighter working your way up. Don’t start a family until you can afford it, and if you already have kids and need food on the table KEEP YOUR DAY JOB. To place the security of your future and your wife and kids future on an aspiration which comes shattering down for 90& of people is retarded and you can’t blame big bad Dana’s pay salaries for your own stupidity. Union or no union. If you are truly a good fighter then you’ll get your dues, but if you are in it for the money chances are, you are not going to be around long enough to make any.
