Dana White Confirms Jon Jones UFC 170 Cancellation Due To Injury
UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones fought a tough and controversial fight against Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 165, and many fans and media members though that Gustafsson did enough to win the title.
Apparently, Jones’ fight against Gustafsson hurt more than his pride, and he has now had to pull out of his scheduled UFC 170 fight against Glover Teixeira due to nagging injuries.
As UFC President Dana White said at the UFC 167 post-fight media scrum, “Jon Jones went back in the gym and just didn’t feel good. He said his legs were still bothering him and his eye is bothering him. He still banged up from that fight.”
“That fight wasn’t that long ago. It’s like being in a car accident,” White said.
White was not ready to commit to any time-frame for the title-fight, and simply does not know when the champ will be ready.
White overtly stated, “we’re still working on that deal.”
