Dana White: ‘All the Fighters Are Picking Weidman Over Silva’

“All the pros, when you talk to all the fighters – every fighter out there that I’ve talked too that we’ve interviewed thinks Weidman is going to beat him [Silva]. Georges St. Pierre thinks he’s going to win so much that he didn’t even want to plan to fight Anderson.”

Is the reign of Anderson Silva coming to an end?

According to the UFC boss, all the pro-fighters he talks to believe that to be the case.

Anderson Silva defends his title against, the most hyped middleweight fighter in years, Chris Weidman at UFC 162 on Fourth of July weekend.

  1. confucius says:

this is the ONLY way they can get people to watch this fight because nobody knows who weidman is. The promo airing has GSP, Rashad, etc saying Weidman will win. Have you ever seen a promo when they had to use UFC fighters to say who will win?! Ive never seen such shit in all my years of being a UFC fan. I guess its their only angle of generating some PPV buys. We all know Anderson will clown on weidman and make him look amateur just like every other fight hes had in the UFC. Waste of a fight on Silva contract if you ask me.

    • Steven Thurman says:

There are so much Weidman nuthuggers that believe it though thats it is actually working, i cant believe the amount of people i see that think Chris will destroy Silva, its pathetic

    • Scotty says:

100% agree! Weidman can’t promote this himself, he’s just not that guy.. Also only can market Weidman of two fights which is pretty hard to promote off of, so they have to resort off other people.. I think this us a big mistake cause now I think this will light a fire under Silva and that isn’t something Weidman wants to do..

    • Madtown says:

EXACTLY! what are the haters gonna say when Anderson blows this kid out of the water with ease? Who has Weidman ever beat? A fat ass out of shape Munoz doesn’t mean a damn thing. This fight can’t come soon enough so they can set Anderson up with a real fight!

  2. Dee says:

Everyone I have talked to have picked Weidman over Silva. He is the heavy favorite amongst fighters.

  3. K2 says:

People are saying that because if Weidman does win there there will be a chance that the belt will start moving around again and other fighters will have a chance against a new champ instead of getting their butts handed to them by The Spider.

  4. zack says:

hopefully weidmann is the favorite so i can make alot of money. people talkin all this shit acting like anderson doesnt see it. my guess is hes training extra hard to silence all the haters again. i predictt a devastating ko from anderson.

    • Scotty says:

Betting system silva will automatically be the favorite cause he is champ and pound for pound.. It might not be a huge favorite but he will still be the favorite..

  5. Gera says:

Surprised to see so many belivers of Silva’s win over Weidman. I’m one to! Easy!

  6. The Clinch says:

One does not just assume the embodiment of Bruce Lee will lose to someone who picked up MMA later in life. Anderson Silva has been doing this way of life since a small child and has fought at the highest level and made his number #1 contenders look like rookies fresh out of the NCAA tourney.
Look for a ref stoppage due to cuts! That Muay Thai plum is the game changer.

  7. Nando says:

Fighters make wrong predictions all the time. Wouldn’t be surprised if they’re just hating on Silva because there’s no strong evidence to suggest Weidman has what it takes. He’s never faced an opponent even close to Silva’s caliber, yet they think that he’s gonna beat him. Either those fighters are stupid or this is just hype.

  8. David P says:

Lmao OF COURSE Gsp doesnt want to plan to fight anderson !!! He wants to get him as old as he can !

  9. 123 says:

i watched an advert for UFC 162 & it shown Chris Weidman & im sure it said “the perfect fighter” lol.. could the UFC put anymore pressure on him.. i like him & hope he wins but i doubt it.. got a feeling Anderson Silva will try to submit him.

  10. The Way Of The Dutchman says:

Hahah I call bullshit on that one.

  11. jean says:

one thing for sure, if Silva wins this one there will no more fighters to align in front of him for MW. Weidman is his biggest challenge ever.
