Dana White: Aldo vs. Pettis is on
Dana White just announced via Twitter that Jose Aldo will fight Anthony Pettis for the Featherweight title in August.
There had been some speculation as to whether or not the fight would happen Dana White told reporters after UFC 157 that Aldo was refusing to fight Pettis because he didn’t think Showtime deserved a title shot. Dana White was very vocal about the situation saying:
“That fight’s on. He’s going to fight Pettis or he’s not going to like how this is going to turn out.”
Aldo then released a statement saying he would fight Pettis, but not for the title.
Just minutes ago Dana White tweeted saying: “Yes Aldo vs Pettis and it’s for Aldo’s UFC 145lb title.”
So there you have it, Anthony Pettis will fight Jose Aldo for the 145lb strap August 3rd as originally planned. A location for the fight has not been announced yet.

Dana white is a bitch! He should of done jones vs silva for the summer instead. Instead we’ll have to wait prob another year before silva fights again.
Like it was going to be any different than what the UFC wants!! lmao
dana white you legend.. jose aldo vs anthony pettis & anderson silva vs jon jones are actually happening.
This fight is gonna be ridiculous
I think that this fight is not gonna happen and you know it’s not because Aldo doesn’t want to fight pettis it’s not gonna happen, why? cause Dana is a mean person if you know what I mean.
Good match up. Just wish they treated Aldo with a little more respect cause he does have a point. Petis good and I wish him luck. Aldo has a tendency to make his opponents not walk so good after their fights.
I think offering Aldo a crack at the LW belt if he beats Pettis is respectable enough don’t you?
He had to cause an uproar just to get it, he had to disobey “Master Dana” just to get that opportunity when two lightweight contenders cut down to 145 to get immediate title shots against him consecutively.
I think SenseiJohnKreese has a point, and I’m not usually one to agree with the UFC Brass doing a bad job, and I am personally a Dana White supporter, but he’s getting a little questionable lately with some of his decisions.
